701 to 760 swap questions

Bought a 00 Superjet With a blown 701 (Bent Rod Cylinder smoked piston junk etc) Bought what I believe and was told was a bolt in ready 760 Complete with carb's (duall 44's) and the e-box. Ive already swapped out my dual 44's and intake manifold I had picked up for my 701. Ive gotten past the exhaust manifold bolt up issue....my problem is the drive cog on the old 701 had 3 prongs the 760's drive cog has 5 and will not mate up with the other end of my shaft? Whats the deal....more or less what do i need to buy a new complete shaft to the pump w/correct end on it? The cog doesnt look like it can be removed.

cog?

do you know cogswell?

... of cogswell cogs?

sorry... had to...

are you talking about the bendix gear? starter? flywheel? im a little confused on the'prongs' youre speaking about.

all 701, 650, and 760 starters, flywheels and bendix gears are 100% interchangable.

While you are at it ditch the 760 electronics and use the stator, flywheel, flywheel cover & electrical box from the 701. Get a MSD enhancer or at least have the rev limiter mod done on the stock 701 cdi. For the coupler issue, just remove the coupler from the blown 701 and install it on the 760 engine. It will never be just "drop in" but it will work, been there done that.

No, it is threaded on. Put a rope in the rear cyl to stop the piston and it should spin off. Use the sam procedure to install it on the other engine. The best thing is to find someone who has a coupler removal tool so that you don't break the cast coupler while removing or installing it.

watcon has the coupler tool, with an impact ( if you have air compressor ) it will come right off, hard cases light heat ( light heat dont boil your seals !!! ).

And while your at it replace the flywheel with a lighten one.

My 760 runns excellent with exactly this set up

760 Ported 84mm
MSd enhancer
ADA girdled head 180 PSI
61x electrics + lighten flywheel
B-Pipe
Dual OEM 44mm's ( not best choice but works )
Hooker 10/16
stubby cone
dual cooled
