Just reread your posts. From experience I'm thinking it's the stator. When I sent mine to JSS he found one of the wires was broken but the ends still butted together, still made contact, so it would break up when running w/the vibration. :banghead: See if you can check resistance on the...

If you pull the plugs & ground them on the head is the spark strong & consistent at cranking speed? (make sure the plugs are out, don't just use another set so you get more RPM)

You may have pulled the wire back away from the plug ends. Try removing the plug caps, trimming the wires 1/4" & put thecaps back on tight. Also try new plugs.

He's a big guy and needs good stability for reboarding in the surf. Aren't the Kawis smaller than an XL1200? BTW, it does need good low RPM power, as he doesn't approach waves very fast.
