    Evil Lake Erie Waves

yup... unless you're planning to attept flat water BF's, you don't need a light hull in Lake Erie waves... that's why i finally decided to bail on an AM hull, and went with building a new Dasa motor instead. Matt, all ya need is to hit it hard... Ask Brian... the throttle is your friend -...

    Evil Lake Erie Waves

yup... definitely move up here next fall bro... :woot: - we now have several guys roll and flipping up here (Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse). I always finding it more motivating when i see others going off. That's it, we're closing Cleveland... ya'll need to just move to this end of the...

Super Jet 701 Teardown & repair- How far would you go?

as long as the cylinders are clean - can you still see the cross hatching from the last hone? - then i would think total tear down - replace seals, gaskets and fresh Hondabond #4 on the cases, light hone of the cylinders and just replace rings. that would be a nice way to refresh the motor...

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

yeah, i have a feeling the new motor will be awesome but not enough to really make flat water that much more more fun, even with trim. but at least I'll have my new motor built and tuned so when I can get a new hull I'll be all set. I'd love to build a new hull, but I just don't have the time...

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

yeah, i agree... but I actually like the way my -2" hull handles... next year it will be new hull time. wish I could do both at one time... but the beach house should be finished by next spring, and I'll be ready for the hull upgrade after that... unless my year end bonus is bigger than...

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

Well, I did it... keeping the hull (for now) and building a bigger motor. Just ordered a Dasa 850PV top end. In the end, it was cheaper to build a bigger motor than it would be to build a new hull... there will be an LPW ported 61x cylinder (83.5mm bore) in perfect contidion, and an ADA...

Custom/Hybrid New Watercraft Factory "Vision" hull

thanks steve... and for the offer wolf. unfortunately I will not be able to make daytona this year... which might be best, as I seem to party way to much... and ride less... LOL

Custom/Hybrid New Watercraft Factory "Vision" hull

Steve, any video of the Vision in surf? and was this a glass or the carbon hull? I'm in the market for a new AM hull - thought I completely made up my mind, but still thinking of all the options.

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

yeah i really regret not riding anyone's AM hull (reguarless of make) at freerides. I have a real thing against riding other people's skis... in hindsight, it might be making this easier than it is.

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

yup, and while I do agree with the wind (which makes our waves on Lake Erie) making a light hull harder to ride - that's less than 25% of our riding conditions. Having a heavy hull for 25% and sufforing for 75% is what has been making this decision hard, and pretty much why I started this...

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

i'm really starting to lean hard towards a -4 superfreak. and will likely call Tem Monday to order one up... I am, however, completely surprized that I have not heard one person talk up the bigger motor option.

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

That's a really good point. My motor is perfect for surf riding... anything over 3' and I have no problems with big air tricks (BF, BR's etc). it's the small crap, chop and flat where I don't have fun. a light hull would likely remedy that for sure... additionally, my motor is very...

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

cool... btw, how are all these AM hulls holding up? I pretty much broke my heavily reinforced '96 RN in half, and my prestine '08 (with two layers of 26oz biax, and a layer of 5.5oz carbon) is cracking in half at the same spot.

Other my winter 2011/2012 mental debate over a new hull or a new motor

thanks Matt... the only problem i have is, I have not ridden any AM hulls... not one. so it's a super leap of faith... which i am willing to take, but i just need to make sure that a hull, and not a motor is the way to go... too many choices too.
