that pic looks amazingly similar to the new eme. The super short nose and a taller front lower hull on both. I wonder who got ideas from who or if they just both happened to turn out this way by chance. Very interesting stuff to watch.

I did have to use a washer once because the threads didn't go deep enough in the crank for the bolt to seat properly. The bolt was tight, but the head of the bolt wasn't holding the flywheel. Maybe look into that.

All I know is that I started the evening with a full cooler and it was empty when I went to bed.

I think that trying to copy Daytona, even in a small fashion, is what makes these rides go in cycles. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to put together a ride like that and most people aren't really up to the task, especially year after year. Nick has done an awesome job of keeping this...

if you get it crated where it can be handled from 4 sides with a fork lift and pallet jack, then you can get a quote from R & L or similar. They are fairly cheap. A factory yamaha crate would be excellent.

ok. mine is steel hubbed. It gave me some piece of mind to know that the flywheel actually fit the crank nose. I guess they can't tell people to lap it because then they would have to deal with over-lapping aluminum hubs.

Wonder why? I always thought/heard that it was good practice to give it a quick lap to ensure a good fit. My RAD is still running fine and it was lapped on. I'll continue to lap my flywheels on....... makes me feel good.

How many hours did you lap it? Just a couple minutes of lapping shouldn't take off more than a few thousandths of material. :wave:

It wouldn't hurt to use some valve lapping compound first to make sure you have a good fit between the crank and flywheel. Spend a few minutes lapping it on and the clean everything up and install it. You can most likely get away without doing it, but it is cheap insurance.
