If you look at the busted rod you can see it snapped clean in tension; looks like the piston shattered, jamming in the cylinder & the crank kept spinning, pulling the rod in half. So I wouldn't think it was a crank failure. Damage amounts to new cases, crank, pistons, cylinders, and domes...

It was purchased brand new & came in a Hot Rods box... Are you talking about the same end machining visible on the "good" cylinder?

Brand new Hot Rods, maybe 10 months old. NO rust on any bearings.

I think I've had that top end a little under a year. I pulled the cylinder off a couple months ago & didn't see any cracks....:splatt:

After a good solid 2 tanks of waist to chest waves at Ponce yesterday my ski suddenly died when landing from a medium wave. I'm thinking the battery cable or something as it would click but not turn over. Here's what I found...
