He sound like quite a fighter. Hope he makes a complete recovery.
That story scared the crap out of me. All the time I'm working on my Suburban by myself. Think I'll get a mechanic to do it from now on.....
Pull the carb and take the diaphragm off. I bet there's a bit of junk there. Look at the diaphragm and everything else to see if you need a rebuild kit. Clean the internal filter. It's a little round rubber or plastic thing that was black on mine and slides right out of the carb.
Ummmm, have you tried pouring a tiny bit of fuel in the carb intake?
While I've got this re-post going, let's ask something else. What's your compression?
Yes.
I think it's a timing issue. You need to get the pump unhooked, but you want to do it at the right time in the turn.
I've done it once or twice on accident. Never on purpose, so YMMV.
Try reducing your speed just a touch to reduce the forces imparted in the turn and get used to your...
So you got the engine compartment packed with styrofoam? Wouldn't that mess up the air flow too much?
Anyways, my SN engine compartment will hold about 5 gallons before ingesting water. I think anyways. I'd estimate it takes somewhere around a minute to empty the bilge after a good sub at...
So that's about 5-6 gallons? Find the leak? Be sure to run it again ASAP after getting the water out so there isn't a buildup of condensation on the inside of the carb intake.
I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say 'them'.
How fast is the water coming in? Just sitting there, can...
Asking what kind of oil is alot like asking what kind of wax is best.
My mechanic said just use anything that has a TC-W3 rating. Don't mix synthetic with regular as many peeps have complained of problems.
If anyone has a cure for that, I've love to hear it.
I have to run my engine for a good 5-10 minutes hard after submerging the hood or condensation forms thick in the carb intake.
Use the flat days to practice other tricks that don't require getting air.
Like barefooting, fountains, tailstands, etc.
The most stress to the ski is going to be right where/when it meets the ramp. Perhaps extending the ramp below the waterline and start at a gradual grade and become...
That gosh darn internal screen on Mikuni carbs.
Pull the carb, pull the diaphragm housing and make sure there's no crap in the carb under the diaphragm.
I've always found pulling the starter to be 1 of the easiest things to do on my 550... The XP can be a PITA.
Replacing a starter that is locked up is the right way to go. Not the cheapest or the fastest but certainly the best.
While you have it out, you should find what's causing the squeling...
