There is no "best ski" need to figure out which one fits you best, and for learning how to flip/roll, I'd go with a fiberglass hull.

We also insulated our trailers. 2 of us run a portable a/c ducted out the floor, 1 has a roof mounted unit.

I have a build thread on my enclosed. 7x14, can haul 4 skis, sleep 4 and has a/c. 2 of my buddies have the same setup, works great and beats the hell out of tint camping.

Budget is everything, light weight carbon isn't the best for surf.

A positive cable or battery post must have been touching the hull somewhere and it was shorting to ground at the ebox, check all your battery cables/posts, got to be some damaged wires somewhere.
