I dont mean to use no shims but to buy and use washers as shims. I use thin and thick washers once i find the right spot with alignment tool. Sometimes cheat and mill down a washer to fit ;)

Its about 1/2" longer than 148 shafts. JM, Torrent, Skat, Maxx all make shafts for that application. DVX is same as most firewall locations. I have a Torrent 155 in mine with the better shaft. One piece billet design, so no friction or welding on it.

Epoxy the shoe in with the pump, makes for a perfect fit.

Pop her open to around 148 if she is not already. Little harder to do a cleaner install but works better with the larger 148 pump.

The 148 tuned properly will be enough for your package. I like my 155 Torrent and will never go back to a 148 for Flat Water but that being said i have ran a 148 Maxx, skatt and Torrent with up to an 16mm stroker motor and had no issues with power delivery to the water. If you have the money...
