First thing I would check is throttle alignment between the carbs and that it stays aligned throughout the full range of motion. If those are the set screw style couplers, they like to work loose and/or wear grooves in the shafts and develop play if left unchecked. *edit I have also seen those...

Big thanks to @JetManiac, we are getting close to having a running ski. I donated a fresh set of 81.25 pistons and a bore to the cause, and with a lot of scrubbing, this engine looks clean enough to eat off of.

Yes, that is how they are installed. I haven't installed a lot of ADA heads, but definitely a handful, never had an issue before this.

I looked into this further and as far as I can tell there is still room in the nut for the stud to thread in to. Tried calling ADA a few times to pick their brain but no one picked up.
