Is there any way to build a slug that can be pressed into a toasted midshaft and welded in place or is it just more cost effective to build that from scratch?
I enjoyed my Chan in small surf, when you're not worried about getting rolled by big waves, small hulls make an otherwise boring surf day more interesting.
Rock Crawlers and other offroad trucks have been using square driveshaft setups forever (in place of splined shafts), same basic idea, just increase the length of the engaged material a bit to retain the strength.
Bad picture but I did exactly what you are thinking. It's been 10+ years so I don't remember all he details, I didn't wrap the turf around the edges and just cut the turf at a 45 degree angle around all edges and it lasted for a season before I removed it for an Xmetal pole. Had a buddy try and...
I have only had factory graphics or a complete bottom wrap on previous skis but am wanting to only wrap the sides of my hull below the bondline. Will the vinyl stick if I trim it before the bottom edge of the hull? The entire bottom wrap was a less than ideal once it got compromised by a small tear.
Somebody might say otherwise but I would use thickened epoxy, I would also poke that tube out of the back of the hull slightly and run a bead of thickened epoxy around the outside seam.
