Why not just cut a hole in the liner large enough for the pipe to sit in (with room for motion and SNAFU) then drape some very thin cloth into the cavity you created so it hangs down and creates the "bubble". Let that cure then reinforce it with heavier glass, sand, paint, done?

Starting to look into this for a side project, can I just use the RRP bushings for kawasaki applications to install a round nose SJ pole on a 750sx? Anybody have pictures of how they attached the steering up top?

2017 is the same as 2008 and later, the handpole is 2" shorter than your 2001 (and all other 1996-2007 models).

I've had good luck with a spring sealed one way valve (sewer BFP) from Home Depot and some PVC, seems to seal up much better than a scupper. I also like them to dump out in the pump cavity rather than the back of the hull. Versiplug seems to work well too.
