I'm pretty sure the fuel pump took a crap out there in the surf... and eventually the battery died. I totally didnt see you point, my vision is horrible without glasses.... You shoulda come by and said hey though. How did you spot me? Though I must say, I should have been pretty stand...
Anyway, got half a day riding in today on the lake. This baby pulls. It bucks as well. It does NOT like to stay on the water. It seems much more happy skipping about. Deffinately not a racing ski.
We are still having trouble predicting which way the ski will shoot off after landing, but we...
And the moment youve all been waiting for. Took it out today with mixed results. I found a few issues.
For one. This is the first time Ive run the aluminum SJ limited chamber as opposed to my old stainless blaster mod chamber. The ski seems to be running a lot richer.
I also...
Kev, Yea I'm leavin around 10 tomorrow. Will definately be there by noon.
I'm actually going to have to buy DAP glue in the morning and glue my mats on and let them dry on the ride to daytona.
First this...
Impeller came today. Thats a nice c75 hub.... :wiggle:
9 / 17 Hooker with a...
Perhaps... but Id have to get a good amount of deep scoop intake grates first. I think the final result could have been better... in a rush I forgot to make multiple tacks and the total curve warped a bit while welding. Not that I'll feel the difference but you can see it if you look...
And looks like the everything is in tonight... I got the superjet steering cable to work perfectly and rigged up a old steering cable as a trim cable.
Tomorrow afternoon is lake test but first I have a few things like foaming the footholds and a last coat of resin in the tray to make...
Thanks Trav
Heres the toploader... Welded this piece into the mariner intake grate and Vwa La! Instant Worx 201 for the 650 pump. Got it all powdercoated up and nice and pretty for daytona. Its not quite straight.. but its close enough for a last minute effort.
Everything WILL be smooth for me Suzi... thank you very much `sarcasm`.
Cause I'm a smooth operaaator... smoooooooth opererraator.
As for me finding you... na uh. You will have to find me. I will only be the absolute loudest ski out there.
Motor installed just in time for daytona. Had some trouble with kawi throttle cable with yami motor, but figured it out.
Bilge wiring all redone and routed. As well. Replaced all screws to stainless, and just finished up random odds and ends. On my way to turn my deep scoop...
Community service and then cables, bilges, steering, and motor install planned for today. I hope to have it on the lake by the end of the day IF i'm lucky. I Plan to have it tied down to both the dock and my trailer this time when i start it.......
On a side note, Im pretty sure that since this engine sits so low compared to stock yamaha and 550 configurations that after daytona I will be chopping about 3-4 inches out of the nose and the hood...... Everything will be lowered. That will be fun.
It was probably high 60s... not really sure. I didnt think as the only thing I had laying around at 10 pm was denatured alcohol and that wouldnt work properly. I plan on fixing up some of my painting errors after daytona. I mainly wanted this to make sure the hull has a final sealing...
Sprayed the hammered copper. Either my gun was clogged or the paint was just to damn thick but I had trouble spraying. It came out like a fiberglass chop gun, all in strands. But as it got thicker, it started to emulify. A few pictures show the paint starting to thicken as it drys.
Tomorrow I...
Trimmed the tubes and glued everything in good. Then just a bunch of sanding with a crappy jitter bug. Dumbauss friend took home my nice black and decker random orbital.
My patented Paint shaker as well shown....
So since I lost my removed tray floor I layed down 2 layers of biax. I hope its enough. Logic tells me that 2 biax layers is way stronger than that ribbed SMC crap they use stock. If I have the opportunity I am going to lay down a 3rd layer.
I also got the rear of the hull done, so now...
