Considering your 10/18 impeller, a single 46 is too big. Find a Keihin 42 or SBN44 and use a stock Kawasaki or Yamaha flame arrestor for ease of tuning.
It got slammed down really hard. The stock bumpers on the hood dont provide much cushion. Glue a block of soft foam rubber on the hood between the bumpers.
People generally want "others" to be regulated and boating is one of the last activities that is not. Once licensing and training are mandatory it wont matter how many die every year. Motorcycles needlessly kill and maim thousands, who is crying a river over that fact? A far as politics go, has...
Check around the engine to plate bolts for black fretting residue, it will indicate a crack or loose bolts. I once had all four bolts come loose because I used to many coats of paint on the plate.
Flat aluminum plate construction will not last very long. Fiberglass will last until a strong afterfire. A large two chamber box will do a good job of muffling noise, even when completely dry. There is not much room for one of these so I would make one chamber up front to relieve peak pressure...
All 650 and 750SX plates are the identical. Early SXI plates are the same except with reinforcements welded on the bottom since big pin engines shake a lot more. Later standups used the same plates as sitdowns which is what is shown in the picture. A 650 plate under a big pin engine may...
Your cheapest way out is simply modding the stock CDI. I like to replace the 100 Ohm resistor with an 80 Ohm for a rev limit around 7400. I will raise it a little more for higher ports and shorter pipes. Eliminating the limit will allow the engine to free rev over 9000. If you do this make sure...
It would not be too small for general use, maybe a little for freestyle. A single needs to be smaller than the largest useable dual because it has a lower strength vacuum pulse. The biggest carb is fine for freestyle type throttling but may not work for long WOT runs.
Just cut a section out of the middle, pot it back together with thick epoxy, and wrap the joint with 4 layers of 6oz cloth. You will have to carefully align the halves for it to turn out well. Most broken poles have been either slammed down against the hood or overextended. BTW, SJ poles break...
The vane needs to hang below the hull for best results at low speeds or in rough water. For instance a Worx 201 or the old Watercross grate is a full 1/2 below where as the original Aquavane is flush. No technical info is ever in the add.
