You won't know till you take the cylinder off. Take pics. There are many reasons for motors to die... The damage will usually point you in the right direction.

What lead me to pull the head was the feeling the motor gave the other day. Kinda tuff to describe... It hit good but the motor felt a little off.. I have heard the motor will "ping" more if its lean and I suspect thats what I was hearing...

I would pull the head but I like to look inside all the time. That gray stuff looks like piston material... how does it feel...

I was wondering what everyone did with the opening that is there once you dremel it. I already dremeled mine... Yours looks pretty clean, if water level is that high i am probably screwed anyway.

It was what was used to block the hole... that was injested that did it... Should have left it open to water rather then block it.
