    Bigger is better as far as peak thrust is concerned. The whole pump inlet needs to be as wide as the pumps diameter and the nozzle also needs to grow with everything else. A solas 144 stator will load a wet piped 701-760 very well. Going larger benefits larger engines more.

    Ive had good luck with gear lube on throttle cables, makes them feel new for a few rides. Ive never experienced steering cables getting stiff though.

    The rear of the engine moves more than the front because there's less dead weight back there. Ive always been able to use the strongest springs on dual carb applications with good results.

    Seven years is a long time for any kind of battery. LIPOs have been available for 20 years, does that make them "old" tech? They still have the best power/weight and are now cheap.     Sure, first he needs to make sure the pump isn't overloading the engine. Lots of people used too much prop thinking they would go faster. Then he needs to learn how to tune a 44 because its easier. Otherwise he may end up being one of the thousands online posting "What jets do I use ?"

    Yes, a little bit. The demand regulator does a good job but the return line will give the effect of changing pop-off pressure during acceleration. Similar to hard turning couches needing their carbs turned sideways.

    Our carbs work with low pressure on the pump side. With the fuel source behind the carbs, any forward acceleration lowers pressure and the return line can make it worse. Im not saying it cant be made to work. It will however lean the carb mixture when you hit the gas.

    Smaller inlet will mostly hurt low speed performance. Use a deep scoop grate on a 550 hull with 750 pump.

    Rear tanks are great for fuel injection. They cause carbs to go lean under acceleration.
