Looks like a great battery for fresh water.... I don't think the plug/charger port would last long in a surf ski. Just my .02 cent
But what a cool battery
I've rode a XFS on Flatwater & have a yr riding a FS in the Surf.... Unless your going to cut the bulk head/try like TC did the XFS has a small tray for the surf
My vote for all around surf ski would be the FS2/FR2
My .02
Like Berkey said ask TC, hes got a lot of time on both
When your riding a carbon, 1000cc flatwater ski to drop 8-10 lbs is a big deal!
But more important is these batteries keep high voltage during starts which also will help with ATP flame/epic's
We have been using these a123's for years in the RC heli's and big gas planes
Order one from Solo, 8 cell to try in my new surf freak.... Will test it first on my 1000 / TL ski & report how well it holds up & how long etc on a days ride.
Can't beat $160 shipped
As for the hump/pump area. With my FW ski we used 2 layers of 8m in the foothold with 1 layer of 8 on the pump hump. Really worked out great. Forward tray just has 1 layer of 8. Then the top of the foothold has 25 mil ..... When you kick in your in!
Got the bottom all wet sanded & buffed...
So I wanted to save some money on paint. All my other builds have been 200-500 on paint plus $400-500 for the painter..... My freak I wanted to see if I could save some money. After using some decent primer to fill the pin holes, I made a trip to Advance Auto Parts for some Dupli Color crap...
Also on the breathers cut a v on both side & push the tube flush inside the hood. This really helps to keep the water out!
Also remember to drill the drain holes on the rear side of the hood, I dont think Tem drilled them.
Not the best pic but you get the idea.
I've had good luck with RRP steering setups.... Also not a fan of the xm bushing setup, I have that on my flatwater ski. It's tight, bolt comes lose , just not what I like.
Hey Crab, I ran umi for a long time, never had any problems..
