    FX-1 Waterbox Carnage...Why?

It can literally happen just from a spark plug going bad. One quits sparking and the fuel in that cylinder doesn't ignite so it gets pushed into the exhaust. A few revolutions later it has built up and finally it's rich enough the pulse wave from the other cylinder ignites it........kaboom!

Yep, steam cleaned. Bad head gasket or slightly warped head. Could even be it was never retorqued after a couple heat cycles.

Yes, you could do that if you wish.

    300/440/550 Will this affect anything?

I've seen worse. You'll probably have enough smooth surface to make a nice tight fit. Right before the last lapping step color the snout with a sharpie, then lap it in. It will give you a good visual on how much surface area is connecting.

    650sx sudden starting problem

Probably just the solenoid. You can measure the voltage at the starter while trying to start it. While just clicking I bet there's nothing. While cranking slowly I'm betting you'll see less than 12v. Sometimes a failing solenoid will still manage to pass SOME voltage.

Nice to see you finally got it together. Do you have any pics of this groove that got machined for the crank retaining clip?

    300/440/550 Will this affect anything?

If the key gets sheared it will cause a no start or backfiring. Knock any high spots on the crank snout down with a flat file first. Then using a heavy cut valve lapping compound, lap the flywheel onto the crank snout. Wipe it all down and lap it again. Do this several times to get the best seat...

Motor wont crank with plugs in.

I'll have to agree, sounds like a failing starter.

    moisture inside flywheel

I seal the front cover with silicone gasket maker and use synthetic sticky grease around the starter snout.
