OK,......how do we keep the 550 hull from skating around like it's on ice once we get into the mid 40's? I know there's lots of fast conversion skis around so what's the dealio? If I don't let off the throttle from the skating around my whole ski starts to barrel roll to the right.
I spent a few hours doing a basic pump blueprinting and assembly today. Impeller is an old Skat 9/17 that I cut a radius on and repitched to 11/15.5. I'm hoping it will work out great.
Thanks. My wife is doing all the turf by herself. I mounted in the electrical and sleeved some wiring this evening. I put new plug wires on the oem coil......even put the awesome little 'high voltage' doo-dads back on!
Just find an actual 650 impeller, several on ebay. The Solas KA-SC-i 13/18 works real well. The old school straight pitch impellers can usually be had cheap and are still WAY better than the aluminum stocker. I have an old Mako straight 16 pitch on mine.
Sure........if you want the rear one dragging the pavement with possibility of completely breaking off and bouncing up into a following vehicle thus killing a 10 year old child!!
NO......don't do it.
I can understand that, and most likely was already in your genetics. Ehlers-danlos syndrome and degenerative disc disease run in my family. It's already aaffected my younger brother and one younger sister.....so far it seems maybe I've dodged it. But I still got my share anyway, small jaw and...
Is this a genetic predisposition or what? What did you guys do to your hips? I've had my share of back issues, even dislocated my pelvis......that one HURTS! But basically all because I'm tall and wasn't stretching regularly, tall people seem to have this issue. But as far as I know all my...
Another big step today.......the engine is in. I also started working on the e-box......which was a wreck! I started with a shoddy battery cable terminal. Then moved on to the stator wiring. There was nothing wrong with it but I just hate having to flop the e-box around, scratching everything...
This is where I usually do all my test-n-tune. This was in between rain showers this evening. I got a little window in the radar to get some testing done and took this pic.
I've seen perfect looking reeds on Seadoo 951's that had over 200 hours........they are stock carbon fiber. A poorly tuned or backfiring machine will damage carbon reeds for sure though.
I also wrapped the chin pad with yoga mat, then my wife covered it in silver marine vinyl. Finally before we quit she glued down the tray pad. Wow, starting to look like a ski again!
2 steps forward today. I got the pole installed, got the steering installed, cleaned up all the bar switches, ran the cables and electrical down the pole, and installed the gas tank.
There's likely a break in the plug wires somewhere. Electricity finds the least resistant path to ground. If there's a break somewhere the spark has to jump. The more load, the worse it gets. You can put new plug wires on an old oem coil.
Finished the cut-n-buff on the hood today and bolted on some hardware. Closeup pic shows all the tiny metallic flakes in the black. Blow it up big and you can see greens, blues, silver, even pink!
