I did try 2 different size exhaust hoses as the Bun box terminates with 2 3/8 and the hull is 2 1/2. The 2 1/2 squeezed down fine onto the box so I went with that as opposed to fighting it onto the hull tube. One less battle. And these were just for fitting, I did change them to black.
Prior to installing the motor I did install reeds, flywheel, starter and bendix, cover and exhaust mani. Reed pics wound up next water box pics, the Bun does use the big snow mobile reeds. Had to make studs and nuts as supplied bolts were merely a suggestion.
And I had to polish the chamber which to be honest wasn't hard at all. It was very clean and unbeaten right out of the box. Same for the water box that I also polished.
Bun chamber installed. The Bun coupler is a battle, for me at least. The rubber is as thick as Sch 80 pipe, here's the Bun coupler next to piece of 4" Sch 80 I used for fitting.
From left to right settled on: Port 1 Top of Bun Exhaust Mani, Port 2 Bottom of Bun Exhaust Mani, Port 3 Pipe Water Jacket, Port 4 Exhaust Mani Injection, running a filter here because of the difficulty getting to, Port 5 To Bun Pipe Injection
Once I had alignment straightened out one piece shim stacks were installed for one less wrestling match when pulling motor. It sure is a LONG way down to that coupler for aligning.
I'm running my O2T Zeel setup from my Bot/Phantom/898. Since I'm moving it to an unknown crank I did a spark test. Turned off the minus signal and just made sure it was firing where I was programming it to.
I didn't use Tony's poured hood seal, I just used D gasket. Glued some sand paper onto a piece of it for a sanding block. Sealed the ends/joint with black 5200.
Thanks! And as far as scratches and dings, that's the "patina'! After the graduation pictures it's out into the real world! But I do like getting the pics, it's only a "New" build once!
The manifold is 3/8 npt feeds on the ends and 1/4 npt for the ports. This let me run 1/2 barb x 3/8 npt feeders with 1/2 Tygon tubing feeding it. I made a tubing organizer from an even bigger piece of tubing that I wound up cutting with a wood blade. Don't waste your time with a razor knife or...
