While I'm turfing, let me get this out of the way

A BIG negative of trying to make it look random.......you can only turn a square so far before it squares up again.

The one positive about the segmented turf was zero manipulation, heating or stretching was necessary for doing the foot holds. Pattern control let me wrap the irregular shape of the holds all the way around the hold.

Lots of templates were used, reused, destroyed

Edges of the holds

Top of the holds, 3/4 turf

My in the tray sanding blocks, rounded ends to fit 3x18 sanding belts tightly

Just kept adding turf till it looked right

To get the shape right for the full 1"pad I made over under templates to guide shaping.

Foot wedge

When I had my plan , scuffed it and started glueing

Turf time. The foot holds are kind of complicated curves with the sides and bottoms. I also wanted them as low in the tray as possible so I built them up from kick tail.

Had to do something with the peel ply surface in the engine bay , so I cleared it with UV epoxy.
