Need some ideas on a problem with ski shutting off

First place I would look would be the Stop start harness in the ebox, could be grounding out inside.

    Steering cable broke

A threaded male-female standoff works best. M5x0.80 Usually I see cable fractures like this from steering that is not properly adjusted and the cable runs out of travel before the turn plate contacts the stop (when turning left on Yamaha). Take a look at it to make sure you don't break the repair.

    What is a 63N Engine?

If memory serves correct, the only difference is that the 63N is missing the second fuel pump pulse boss, as opposed to a 62T has 2 bosses. Take a look at your cases and verify this with us if you could?

    Engine refresh /what is it

They are not the same. I think you meant 64u and 62T are the same?? To the op, 64u head is likely what you gave on that motor. Externally it's the same as the old 61x head (to mount the old style exhaust), but the internal casting/water jacket is same as a 62T.

Another Reason Why I Prefer Fuel Primer over Choke

Depends what you call modern! Lol. (I draw the line at trailing arms). But yes enricheners worked quite well. Wouldn't have a carb sled any other way.

Another Reason Why I Prefer Fuel Primer over Choke

Ya nobody puts primers on their sleds, unless they are running junk (or an older ski-Doo that came with a primer, but same thing as junk). If your fuel lines are plumbed correctly, your fuel won't run back to the tank, and then you won't need that primer. Heck that primer is probably the...

Another Reason Why I Prefer Fuel Primer over Choke

Your gonna laugh and call me redneck, but I pop off my water separator/filter (ofcourse making sure there no water in it first lol) and use that to prime the system if I need to get something running again on the shore. Now I could possibly side with someone who regularly rides big surf, that...

Another Reason Why I Prefer Fuel Primer over Choke

I'm just gonna sneak in here and remind everyone that primers are for your cheap Chinese weed eaters, not a high quality watercraft. Every time a new ski comes through my garage with a primer, it gets yanked off and goes in the trash.

    WTB eme 96mm pistons

If EME can't help you, try https://thecrankshopvt.com/ His cylinders are made by crankshop, not sure if they can get you his exact piston profile but it's worth a shot?

    Riva 7 ports cylinder Superjet

Aside from the name on the cylinder and PV bosses, and sleeves, what kind of differences are there between say a Riva, R&d, and the unbranded Dasa (Lamey) cylinder?

    Hull Fx1

If you can find it a ride up to Illinois, I'd be happy to take it off your hands!

    Which 550 to buy?

I'll disagree. 650sj can't do anything better than an fx1 if you are a capable rider. Heck I would ride a stock fx1 (well with footholds of course) any day over any full length superjet regardless of mods, unless we are talking about chasing buoys or something lame.

    Which 550 to buy?

I'm not sure what prices are like in your area, but you can pick up nice Reed 550sx here in the Midwest for almost half those prices. I haven't rode hardly any "good" 550's (most in my area are just half-dead old garbage), but my stock '94 550sx was night and day better over any other stock...

    Zeeltronic backfire issues

760 or 701 stator? Could be your issue there. If the engine is slower cranking with ignition active vs dead, I would be looking into ignition fault (I have had bad cdi and bad stators cause intermittent weak cranking, even had them "lock" the engine trying to turn over). Other thing I would do...

    Should I port these? B-pipe

The spoons from McFlurrys work really well too, the only issue is they are hard to get ahold of (dang ice cream machine is always broken!)
