Good deal man! I hope you got to some glass work. Boy this is a pain in the rear man. Between the Holiday's, a full time plus work schedule and a million home improvement projects and I am starting to lose my patience.
I woke up Sunday morning at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep so I...
that looks really nice man. Did you just cut it with a jigsaw and metal blade? Looks good.
My tray area is still a mess as it needs to be sanded but it s fully glassed. Did a few more layers on it to make sure it is strong. Also, I started shaping foam. Lemme tell you that is a royal mess...
haah...no not even close. finished the tray glass up (did the end caps and did one more layer over the front of the tray and the tops of the gunwhales for reinforcement. I also cut the front of the nose off but havent started shaping foam yet. I cut 9 inches off the front to the bond line 7...
So how did you do the rocker on the bottom? Looks like you cut the bottom of the hull to flex it up? Or is that layers of foam? I cut mine off one inch in front of the waterbox mounts which is what I think you ddi. I plan to move the mount forward though as my hood is so low the current...
The are Waterdawg footholds I ended up trading a carb for. Yes that was a great deal on the hoold.
Yes..I am tired of getting covered in dust ect and getting my fingers stuck with epoxy and I haven't even touched the nose. This type of thing takes forever and I am on a deadline to get mine...
Looking good man. I ended up buying a carbon wrapped lowered hood for $50. Its not super pretty...but it was cheap and it will get the job done. I have been working on my tray a ton and the amount of time this all takes is astounding.
I like the nose direction you went with. I might have...
Ian thanks or the note on that...yes I did seal every little corner etc. Once I clean up everything with a grinder and/or sander I plan to use thickened resin to fill anything I think might be subject to leak.
Quinc...I moved them 5 inches forward as that is what I chopped off the hull. So...
So what I did with the hold is use thickened resin and glued them in place. That is what the pvc pipe is doing. Than I foamed around them and in any gaps that the polystyrene left.
Than sanded the foam and pulled the pvc pipe. I have cut all the glass cloth that I need I just need to lay...
I actually used the canned crap as it was so much cheaper and I am really not worried about water intrusion into the gunwhales. The water will leak down into the bottom of the hull and shouldn't soak the foam. If it does...oh well.
Pull your SJ motor and throw it in the FX-1. Than work on the funds for the larger Jetmaniac motor. At least that would give you something to ride.
Sweet man!
Brad
I haven't even really gotten to the sanding yet...not looking forward to it. should I give you a little sneak peak at my tray? Its not totally done yet. Still have to sand gunwhale foam and re glass but its coming along.
Congrats brother!!! My little girl is due in March...so I have been really pushing to get this thing done as I figure it will sit for years if I don't get her finished.
Good luck...hope all is going well with Mom and Son!
