Easy test would be ground the pink wire and see if it changes the operation. Should severely limit the RPM. I bought a "bad running" SJ from a guy who inadvertently had the pink wire grounded. Oops.
I run a 750sx spring on my XMetal pole.
I think the XMetal pole fits better on the older style swoopier skis, and the RRP poles look good on the newer, more angular hulls.
Okay new stator, new regulator in. With regulator unhooked, I get a solid 20v+ at idle. With regulator hooked up, 3-4v. Voltage across battery steady at around 13.3v, which is the charge before I put it in.
Yeah, I got lazy. I had the box open I just didn't check with the voltage reg unplugged. I've had such terrible luck with stators in the past I just went straight to changing it.
Timely post. Is this likely to change the voltage? I got stupid and swapped stators and it gave the same output. Starting to think my voltage reg is the problem bc I never unplugged it (my stators are on plugs).
Hahaha, I was looking at threads regarding springs. I put a spring on my x-metal pole this week. I did need to temper it down a bit with the torch but it sits pretty good now.
Got the ski back from paint, FINALLY. Went with white gel in the end. It went on pretty badly because it was sprayed while it was so hot out, but whatever. Spent the evening sanding and buffing. You can see the matte finish on the side in the above picture. We did a test patch on the nose...
