Super Jet Blowsion Spring - Did I waste my $$$ and time?

So I picked up a Blowsion high tension spring for my Superjet after seeing the youtube video of it on their site, http://youtu.be/pERRmQ6pKaM

I thought great, that looks amazing for what would become sore arms at the end of a long ride day.

Installed it yesterday and it has about negative five pounds of weight on the pole! The pole stands fully vertical at all times, and is a super nuisance in the water.

Reading over people who had similar results with the Blowsion spring, it appears that the "fix" is to tighten the handle pole bolt to the point that friction keeps it from standing up so high. That seems like an incredibly ill-advised remedy to me. I install a spring that cost $35 and a less than easy install, just to sacrifice the life of my bracket and bushing hardware by tightening the pole to where it can't move? I could have just done that with the stock spring and gotten the same results.

Not happy with the product at all.

Haha that sucks dude. They can be kinda random. Mine is a little too soft actually. A buddy of mine's is perfect. And another newer spring I saw sounds like its like yours. Ask for a new one. Or return it for a stock spring tensioner.

hold the pole down and heat the spring a little to get it neutral

My stock bracket it would hang about half way and was perfect. On the lowered blowsion bracket I had to cut off the bottom of the spring and now it rockets up. Had to tighten where its a stiff pole as well. However after riding I havr no complaints.

Does heating really work? Knowing me I'll just end up cooking my steering and throttle cable trying to heat the spring up.

Wouldn't heating take the temper out of the metal too? Making it more prone to breaking?

Put a limiting rope on it and tighten your bolt down a bit.

Yes it would weaken the spring, but it will still be plenty strong. We've been running springs that way for years problem free

It's made heavy because it sags after a season. My all stock pole used to hover at almost half way, but a season later, it is heavy again. I shortened my pole -3 and it feels great. Store the ski with the pole strapped down to the hood. It will be sagging in no time.

Remember, the blowsion spring is designed to work good on a stock pole. If you have a pole -3 with a carbon chin pad and an AM bracket that adds extra tension, you ski will have a perpetual boner.

Also remember, you replaced a sagging stocker with a brand new higher tension model. The stocker sags. This will too. Maybe you can add a 2lb weight to the chin pad until it starts to sag? I don't know... but my 1 year old blowsion spring stored with the pole down is perfect, all stock except -3 now. Would have been bonerific if it was -3 when I installed it though.

Thank you @holygoat for liking this old ass post today. It was amusing to read about the raging erections my superjet used to have. The pole actually has about the same performance it did 12 years ago. I'm a bit jealous. Now I'm realizing I don't... damn you @holygoat.

Hahaha, I was looking at threads regarding springs. I put a spring on my x-metal pole this week. I did need to temper it down a bit with the torch but it sits pretty good now.

That spring shouldn't be rubbing on the hull like that. It'll chew through it. You should build an aluminum or steel perch for it.

Could also use a piece of rubber hose over the spring

did that a couple years ago, huge pita, went through a couple options for breather tube as well. i installed an rrp spring tensioner on mine to keep it off the hull

The trick is to have enough extra weight on the pole from all the crack repairs and glass and resin........that the pole sits in a neutral position...LOL!!!
