I just double checked to make sure it wasn't april 1st again. If you don't bring it to Guntersville this weekend, I'll just assume you're not my friend anymore.
Js550 motor will work great with a bread box exhaust. Definitely keep your 440 pump. That was the preferred pump back then. 90 was the first year of sx hull and rear exhaust. The reed 550 motor came a year later. All 440s have that bulkhead bearing.
VForce 3 does sandwich. Vf2 no.
Those will likely flatten out when you bolt them down. Heat them up a bit with a heat gun before and it may help them take shape. A little 1211 on the reed cage gasket wouldn't hurt either.
Sounds like weak spark.. losing spark under compression. Do an ohm test on your stator. Also check for continuity between the plug wires. Should be around 5k ohms. Open would mean bad. Should be able to find plenty 550 stators and cdis out your way. Make sure your grounds are good and that...
Not sure but it looks like an SXR hood opening. My old backie chan matched up with one pretty good. Could modify the front to match your hull or a lowered sxr hood may work.
I sent him a pic of an SXR and made a statement about handling mods. He took the bait and calls a few minutes later..... about 10 minutes into our conversation I said "you sure don't sound like someone who isn't interested in jetskis anymore."
Your best bet is have competitive crankshaft rebuild yours... if you really need it. Rod play in the direction you are showing doesn't mean much. Pull up n down on the rod , not side to side. Are the bearings turning smooth? Looks pretty clean for a 550 crank.
