SN VS RN: What does an extra 23hp do?

Roughly 1250?

With that in mind and everything else you said in this thread (not wanting to build a motor) I would definetly get the RN.

You will notice a huge jump in power over your 650. It will be whole different experience plus you will have a much better resale value.

Now, if it was me.
I would spend the $1250 and build my self a 701 with a pipe, change the handle pole to a RN and make that SN a much better ski than a stock RN.

i got my 61x for 450 w/ a head from some dirtbag on here. i put my money into my pump , motor ,rn pole, and steering. i chose performance over looks. everything i got can bolt on a rn hull when i decide to switch. plus, i spent all that time grinding and reinforcing and dont feel like doing it again anytime soon. the handeling differences in all the rns i rode are minimal to me. not worth a 1000+$ imo you are going to have more fun on a pumped square then you are on a stock roundie

I have decided to keep my SN's and basically create and engine/pump handeling set up that could be swaped into any superjet based ski.

I tried the RN and so far I am still hooked on my square, for looks...mabey...more being nostalgic I guess ...or different...or like the rest of the Square owners....

I would recommend a 701 engine versus a 650 best built up your own, I rode a LPW ported 701 61x/61x Single carburator with coffmans sizzle ma dizzle for quite a while and was very happy with the performance.Obvioulsy if you built one up utilize the 62T cases as broadly recommended.

Then I think down the road an aftermarket hull might be even more interesting than switching to a RN.....saving weight will increase any engines power...just a different perspective !!

haha, yes, and pivot point of the handle pole. pretty small differences. i guess a 61x is a option, i do like the looks of the RN better, but if its worth the 1250, probably not. haha, you guys make it sound so easy to get a 61x in good shape, i am not a good rebuilder of engines, etc. if you see a bunch of 61x's for sale, let me know. i do think sadly i could get my money back out of a rn easier than a SN with 61x, sadly I guess because the looks.

SN with 701 61x - 1300 est
RN with 701 62T - 2200 est

I am all about 'investment'. I guess if i find a 61x that is cherry and cheap, it would be an option. However, the sexiness of the RN and resell value may help me.

jetskis are NOT investments lol.....

If you are just looking to do subs, jumps and 180 stabs all day, spend $200 on a Coffman Sizzler and enjoy that SN. Hell, probably a lot of guys that can do that on a stocker 650.

The SN is heavier than the RN, and coupled with the fact that there are more custom products for the RN, the choice to me would be pretty simple.

In saying that, I do like to use my SN in large/chappy surf because of the weight, but it has a ported 701 with an x-metal pole and side rear exhaust on it, so it is definitely not a stock SN.

Go with the roundie, and you will be better off in the long run...

ya, the choice is very simple, get the RN, i guess i 'hold myself back' because its like do i really need it? will the SN just suit me fine? haha, obviously this comes down to a personal decision, thanks for the tips guys.

I have them both and keep will keep them both, but if I had to choose, the RN would stay...

Good luck in your decision..

Easy there big spender.

Why I like the SN hulls ?
Because everyone gives me shait for not having a RN.

while i agree with you on the "throw-awayability" of the inexpensive SN hull, if i had both again and had to choose, itd be bye-bye SN.

i dont give you shiat for not having a RN. its part of what makes you you.

guys guys guys, a SN and RN both with a 62T/61X top are going to be 'fairly' close, so for me, rather than buying the 701 for my SN, I just figure go to the RN. If someone gave me a 701 for my Sn would i just keep that? YAAA. I'm just making the move mostly for the powerplant, and this is going to be the easiest way.
