SN VS RN: What does an extra 23hp do?

But I want to know now. :shooter3:

I will tell you all for a fact that the SN is much better than a RN at least in one situation.

When we go out "trimming" mangrove trails after a storm I can knock down much bigger branches with my square than my friend on his girly RN.
He's too worried about scratches in his pretty paint where my SN is a Bull Terrier. That big rubber nudge bar can take some serious knocks and red mangrove just bounces off the mighty SN hood. Not even a scratch or at least none that I notice on my pristine 20 year old paint.

Another instance that my SN is better is when we rail off a half sunken boat.
I can do some serious damage to that thing where he just skims it.
It's that whole "pretty paint" thing again.

:nana::nana::nana:
I think you need some deflector shields for that thing.

Can I come over and try it with my SN?

I tried to score that sexy one in Daytona but Charlies grip was just too strong.

Any time you like.
Pick a day where the high tide is around noon and it's a go.
Bring a helmet and some long sleeves (red mangrove scrapes take time to heal fully) and we can go gardening all day long.
The half sunken boat slides are a go even at low tide.

I've heard about the mangrove riding there from Charlie, so would definitely be keen one of these weekends before I head off....

now I'm gonna hafta go home a measure how tall my SN hood, my Moody Masher, and my XMW RN hood are.

I measured from top of bond rail as close to perpendicular as I could estimate to the bond rail - up to a ledger board I laid across the tallest part of each hood. The results are:

SN with Moody Masher hood - 17.5"
SN with stock hood - 16.5"

RN with XMW hood - 14"

Good job.
Now if only we had a RN with stock hood we could get a good laugh,............. I mean all sleep easier.

So your hood is 2.5" lower than your SN and it only cost you what ?

BTW, my stock hood sits right at 16" but might be 3" lower in a few weeks.

what did you do to your hood? From SFL's post it sounds like you made a storage compartment or something out of it.

RN hood and NP is carbon fiber and weighs about 1/3rd of what a stock SN hood weighs, so not fair for comparison...and XMW does not make/sell a glass version that I know of.

My hood is nothing special, I only shaved the bottom lip (the one that presses against the seal) by 1/4" and raised the front hood hooks by another 1/4".
It is rather light for a stock SN hood and plenty strong with some added material but the storage thing is just a joke.
You see, I made a nice liner some years back and never glued it in. It just sits in the hood and can be easily removed.
Once the hood is closed, the liner presses against the hood seal and the hood it self and stays put. Does a great job at keeping out water.

My goal is to do a 6 minute fountain and have it on video. :wiggle:

But seriously, I have done 2 laps of our lake while doing a fountain just out of sheer boredom. That's way over a minute.
It's the only way we can pull some of the colder water off the bottom and mix it with the soup that is on top. That lake is small and gets HOT in the summer.
