Hi,
As the possibility is there to install a 1200 in a superjet hull, and not many people have done this, I thought I have a go !!
During the past years I build all kind of engines for the superjet, all suitable for pump-gas. This 1200 project is just to see what happens with a 1200 engine.
Within "normal" standards it's not very difficult to install it into the 2008-2009 hull.
Indeed the listed hp for the xl1200 is 135 hp.
The unit will only be used for closed circuit racing, on almost flat water, and the racers already install extra weight in the sj hull to make a more stable ride. As the 2008-2009 hull has a 6 cm wider front section, the stability improves with extra weight intstalled in the hull.
This extra weight is not nessesary when a 1200 is installed.
What I am worried about is the pump and the impeller.
It will take some serious work to get them to match the hp output and the characteristic of the engine.
I am aiming for a linear increase in hp "feeling" to make it a easy ride "out of a corner".
Engine bay is no problem, and the possibility to stretch the hp output is nice.
