Yes, I am sick of it. :banghead:

I remember a time when I used to be a healthy and solid 180 pound stallion. I don't know WTF happened but I am currently a 229 pound Gorilla.

This sh*t has got to end and it has to end NOW.

I am NOT starting a diet or anything like that as I am not into counting calories or weighting food and that sort of thing, but I am reducing my calorie intake by basically eating half of what I usually eat everyday.

So instead of that Big arse burrito, I will eat Half of it....or the Mongolian beef and rice Chinese plate, I will eat half and take the rest home.

Wish me luck!

Good luck. I just started a diet today as well. I do however need to count calories and/or do Weight Watchers points system.

I'm also doing a "boot camp" program at the Y starting tomorrow. 3 days a week of crazy intense workouts.

I'm starting off at 235lbs.

Thanks for the tip!
I am starting as easy as I can....not much thought into it, just eat half. I am a busy guy working full time and a part time Home business on the side and I guess I have become a creature of my routine. Eat when hungry and eat a lot of it.....LOL!

The reason I am starting like this is because it worked for my GF. She shed 40 pounds in 8 months after giving birth and all she did was eat half....seriously! The funny thing is that She eats ALL the time now.....A Bowl of cereal here, a power bar there, a BLT sandwich (half), fruits, salads....etc...etc....and for dinner time She gets a small plate with the same stuff I eat but half the portion. She is also into the whole wheat stuff (Wheat bread, pasta, etc...)

I figure if it worked for her it should work for me although women and men have very different physiology, I will still give it a shot.

This just made me hungry I am going to eat my Hostess fruit pie now. (Cherry)

Haha, you suck.

I never eat that stuff (though I love it), fast food maybe twice a month, same with pizza. No junk food in the house at all (my wife's a health freak), and no prepared meals. We don't even have a microwave. The meals have to actually be cooked. My problem is that I just plain like to eat. When I eat, I eat too fast, and too much. Keeping a food journal keeps me on track. That way I know how many calories I've consumed.

My Problem here too! My GF is into the whole healthy eating, organic produce, no processed food thing. I, of course, go along for the ride and eat that as well. Her meals are delicious However I eat like a horse and I usually repeat after my first serving.....

Well there it is....

Not impressed. It has always been like this for me.
I always lose fast in the beginning and then I stop losing. The problem is that I never pushed myself harder, to go further, and I start eating again and before you know it....it's all back.

The only thing I have done is eat half of the usual portions I eat....for real. I order the same "super burrito" but I eat half at lunch time with the guys and take the rest home. Sometimes I have the other half for dinner, others I take it to work the next day and eat it for lunch.

I have saved a lot of money last 9 days that is for sure but lunch is boring as I eat the same thing the following day sometimes, but that is OK, food is food that's the way I see it. My GF says I don't look as "fluffy" but I look at myself and I see the same guy.....no changes there.

I used to go #2 twice a day everyday, now is only one trip once day which makes sense as I am not eating as much.

I am drinking lots of water everyday too.

On Monday I will go back to the Gym. I will start with cardio (treadmill) everyday, I will not do weights or anything else as I don't want to get hungry too much. Every time I lift weights I get soooo hungry I know I will start eating big again so I am staying away from them.

The next few weeks will be the tough ones.....my body will really start complaining about the calorie deficit.....

p.s: I will update ever Friday nights.

if you eat more often and the same small portions it may work better for you. 1/2 at lunch and 1/2 a couple of hrs later.

use the elliptical machine instead it uses the whole body and helps w/ your core strength by twisting your torso on every step.

i have heard for years now that the best exercise you can do is jumping rope,it works every major muscle group and requires just a few minutes a day and of course a rope.

5.6 lbs is great for what, 12 days. "They" say 2lbs/wk is a good rate. Think of how long it took to put it on.

That's where most "dieters" go wrong. It takes them one or two years to put on 30 lbs but expect it to fall off in a month.

There is 3500 calories in 1lb of fat. If you created a 500 cal/day deficit from your maintenance calorie intake, you would loose 1lb/wk. By eating "half", you might be creating as much as 1000 cal/day, which would give you 2lbs/wk. I highly doubt you are creating more than a 1000 cal deficit without dieting and incorporating a major exercise routine. For instance, that "big burrito" you had is probably 1500 cal or more. Eating half that is 750 (or more). A normal bowl of cereal is actually more like 4 servings at 120 cal each plus milk gives you a 600 cal breakfast. Then mid-morning snack gives at least 100, an apple is 100 cal, but most snacks end up around 200.

That's why I NEED to write everything down so I can add everything up and know where I'm at. Everything adds up so quick, it's crazy.

Yes, I heard that too about the portions....
I am going with the treadmill on the first week once I build some stamina, I will look into the other machines.

Yes, it's excellent Cardio while also working your reflexes.

swimming is the best cardio work out there is . boxing, jumping rope, running to follow.

You are right on the money here. It may be the Best overall exercise there is. I heard Michael Phelps was eating 8K calories a day during training and competition and the guy is so slim....

@ Steve:
My Hat is off to you for coutning calories, I personally would go crazy. Once I get my weight under control and lose more of it, and get really excited about it, I will get more serious and watch everything I eat. For now I am taking it easy......

Thanks everyone for their comments.

F***K !!
I was BAD today and hit an all you can eat Indian cuisine buffet. I did not eat near of what I used to eat before, BUT nevertheless, I ate more than what I should have. :banghead:

I did find out something interesting. My stomach is indeed shrinking as I feel like crap right now, like I have a big stone in my stomach or something, I keep drinking water to wash everything down.

I am starting the Gym today so I will run the treadmill for one hour and burn the unnecessary calories I just ate.....I feel so guilty right now.....I will NOT let something like this happen again......EVER....

On the exercise note - I like jogging/running but always have trouble with shin splints.
I recently started running barefoot to combat this. The logic is that the human foot is perfectly suited to handle running without fancy shoes.
Working great so far, I ran 3 miles yesterday morning without issues. I am having to run on grass, though. Pavement and track surface are far too rough for my feet to handle yet.

I am posting early today. I took the day off as I am attending my buddy Chad's wedding.....

I continue to eat half but I have "switch" to smaller meals now. My experience at the Indian Buffet earlier this week was an eye opener. When I get to a restaurant instead of ordering the usual and eating half, I go for something more sensible, like instead of a super burrito with everything on it, I eat 2 tacos with a salad. I am merely exploring what my body seems to be tolerating now and being content and satisfied (Thank God).

I remember I used to walked into a restaurant an basically get the biggest thing on the menu, no way I was ordering something small as I knew I was going to be left hungry and also something deeper going on in my mind.....why spend this much $$$ when for a little bit more I can have that huge plate? Stupid as it sounds that is the way I thought.

So my stomach has definitely shrunk and I can feel it if I over eat....that is good.
I did not start the Gym as I said I would.....my bad. I will this coming Monday for sure.
I am back to twice a day #2....interesting.

Still drinking lots of water too.

p.s: I seem to mention restaurants a lot. I do not eat out all the time but I did 4 days out of my 5 day working week at least. Now is like 2 days. At home I eat healthy so no worries there. I think I am going to start packing my lunches from now on, more savings and healthier eating.
