Body weight loss journal

Last month I spent 9 days in the Hospital taking care of my Mom, I slept like crap on a "couch/bed" and ate all sort of junk food Hospital. I was also stressed out to hell and I did not eat at all the first 2 days. I guess I screwed up my Metabolism pretty bad because I gained ALL the weight back, for real. But my mother got well so quickly that I snap out of it, got back on my feet and back on track immediately and I was able to shed the weight off in about 3 weeks.
I guess this is what they call a Yo-Yo diet, where you lose and then gain all the weight back again rather quickly. I hope that never happens to me again. I am really determined to get the weight off and be back at my 180 pound goal. So far is has been a solid 10 pound loss.

This is going to be a lot of pictures of your feet isn't it? Photoshop???

Seriously though I like your ideas the journal the eating half...

I love to eat and eat lots... I need to cut weight and gut myself... but I got a lot further to go than you!

No photoshop.

The reason why I am doing this is that I can be held accountable for it ....you know? I am putting myself out here and even though I feel like saying "the hell with this sh*t" sometimes, I won't because I already committed to it. My word is on the line and that is a powerful reason for me to stick to this plan. Nobody said this was easy, it was easier to quit smoking cold turkey 4 years ago, for real.

I have tried to lose weight for the past 3 years and it has not worked. You have to find the angle that will work for you and by me doing this I think it has hit a nerve. Specially when I feel like quitting, I think about my post here and say to myself...."Don't be a loser"...."You have to show some progress next week"....

I think 1 or 2 pounds a week will be a very comfortable and doable goal. I still have not hit the Gym, mainly because I get so hungry when I lift weights that I don't want to screw my progress so far, but I will eventually.

The most important reason I am doing this is because I am sick of my weight. I let myself go and I feel really bad about that. And of course for health reasons that although I am not seeing any effects yet, in the long run I know I will.

I have also been taking pics of myself, front and side, but I will post those when I reach my goal of 180.

I forgot!
hey good work so far man, i dropped 20 lbs last winter. i was 192lbs and felt a little jiggly on my front side. i got a bowflex and pounde the tread mill for 12 weeks before daytona to stay in shape. i didn't want to drive 22 hours and only be able to ride 10-15 min in the surf at a time. i managed to drop about 15lbs but i built alot of muscle too. i lost the rest of the weight when summer started and i stopped the bowflex/treadmill i got down to 172 all summer and am getting geared up to exercise in the off season when i put on my winter weight.

I was just joking about the photoshop... I think it's awesome what you got going on here.... I am thinking of doing something along the same line... Something that keeps me accountable for more than 3 days... I have the same problems as you with eating way to much and being hungry... I also always say why not pay a little more for a lot more food... So I will be staying tuned and watching progress...

keep up the good work man!

Quick update. Still losing weight, slowly but surely. I think I have been safely shedding about 1 pound a week. I believe this is great and I hope to continue this path as it is the less painful IMO. I don't go hungry anymore and I have shrunk my stomach to the point it hurts and I feel like crap if I over eat one extra ounce of food....
Believe it or not I still have not started the Gym, I know I have to as it will help shedding the weight even faster but for now I am OK.

Who'da thunk it?

Nice job Benny.
I went from 199.5 in late July to 186.0 yesterday. It's been a very slow loss, but steady.
I didn't even work out or put any exercise into it, as I don't have the time.
Eating lots of vegetables from our garden, eating less at night, and being stressed out of my mind by a 40/week job and full-time undergrad engineering school really help.

Indeed, there is absolutely no comparison between homegrown tomatoes and store bought stuff.
We grew some herbs, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, yellow squash, tomatoes, watermelons, pumpkins, and grapes.

Nice job Benny. Been slow going for me too. I lost 10lbs from Aug to Sept, and now I'm kinda hovering here. Need to hit the gym hard again to get things going once more.

Still losing.....shedding pounds for sure.
So far I have lost 18 pounds in 13 weeks.
That comes to a total of 1.3 pounds a week.
I eat ANYTHING I want.....the key is PORTION control.
At least this is what is working for me as you can see.

I started the Gym today. I run for an hour then did 4/25 sets of abdominal. I felt so good while running, my knees and ankles did not hurt as they usually did in the past. I used to run for 15 minutes then walk for 10 then repeat. This time I did the entire hour non stop. Having almost 20lb off really helps. I am still at the same weight as last week.

Thank you Emm.
I have been working out for over a week now and gained 4 pounds...I knew that would happened. Some people are telling me the body will adjust and I will start to lose some pounds again....my body for some reason is holding up, because of the exercise, but will soon "relax" again.... I guess, I am not a personal trainer or Dr. so I can attest to that but I found something that sort of reaffirms what I was told:

http://exercise.about.com/od/weightloss/f/gainingweight.htm

3. Not giving your body time to respond. Just because you start exercising doesn't always mean your body will respond to that immediately. As Cathy Leman puts it, "...in some instances the body needs to sort of "recalibrate"' itself. Increased activity and new eating habits (taking in more or less calories) require the body to make adjustments." Cathy recommends that you give yourself several weeks or months for your body to respond to what you're doing.

So I hope my gain in weight is just that, my body needs to "calibrate" itself to my new regime. I am going to the Gym 3 times a week (Mon-Wed- Fri), run 4 miles each time and work a Body part or two. Total time spent at the Gym each time is 90 minutes....

We'll see what happens at the end of this week....

This is some story right here:

and that guy "just stop eating so much"......

He also has a book.

http://dietchoices.com/diet-plans/just-stop-eating-so-much/

I have not read that book but the principle of what I am doing is the same.
Eat anything but in small portions.....

don't focus on the pounds so much now that you are working out.....it can be discouraging when it shouldn't be!

I haven't lost any weight since my first week of crossfitting but I am gaining muscle.......and my clothes are hanging off of me.

You are going to start losing inches and toning up like crazy!

Keep it up!!!!!!!!
