Well guys its that time...

Now the question: What to get? 08 Superjet? or 08 SXR-800?

im really torn...i have ridden my cousins SN superjet a lot...and its amazing on turns, very responsive etc...

I have also ridden a friends race prepped SXR 800...ridiculously fast...

i really dont know which way to go here...i ride in lakes a lot but also occasionally go out in the ocean too (and yes, on my 1990 550sx LoL )

what do you guys think? im really a mixed rider...i like little tricks but i also like all out speed....

price is not a factor.

Us guys think you need to decide whether you want to freestyle or to race.

BTW a SN and a race-prepped SXR are apples and oranges.

08 SJ and SN are like apples and oranges too. 08 is more in line for racing like the SXR. In order to get your 08 SJ to ride like a pre 08 you've got to do quite a bit to it. Adjust quicksteer, replace steering line + pole to a 07 or older. the 08 SJ carves like a dream and is a fun ride pure stock, but it's not made for freestyle imo.

IMO most here will say "get a Superjet" (hmm never heard that before) but thats because this is more of a freestyle site. You gotta try them both back to back and make the call (sounds like you'll have a fun time at that too).

I wish I could say price is no factor too

If price is not a factor then get both?

If i could do it all over again i would get a older ski with all the goodies and go from there.

I really like this smiley:deadhorse:

yeah i wish it was that easy to just try them...but standups are very limited here unfortunately. most are couchriders :spank:

anyway like i said only superjet i know of (and have ridden a lot) is my cousins SN superjet (with riva pipe) and another friends full race SXR-800.

it really sucks i dont know anyone else around here to try out an 08 superjet

basically you guys are saying go for the 08 superjet?

i have never ridden one...

Then ride one before you buy. The 08 SJ rides nothing like a Squarenose or even regular Roundnose Superjet.
It's a different ride.

If money is not a factor then it really won't matter which you buy. Each can be modded to overcome any shortcomings you experience. It doesn't really help you make a decision but I really don't think you would be disappointed in either machine.

If you need a tie breaker, where is the closest dealership and which machine will be the best supported locally, just in case something goes wrong with it. Not very likely with either but I had to drive 100 miles for warranty on my seadoo and it was a PITA. I will buy local just for warranty support, except for polaris.

By what you posted all the sxr has is the "ridiculously fast..." speed. And the SN is all of the good stuff. "and its amazing on turns, very responsive etc..."

So it sounds like you want a 97 to 07 SJ. the same bottom as the sn and with the right mods will keep up with that SXR and be freestyle friendly

And can be easily found for decent coin with plenty of upgrades already installed.

I'm not too sure about the pre 08 SJ keeping up with an sxr. Maybe if you drop both out of a plane the SJ will keep up. I'd say an sxr is a substantialy faster ski on any skill level or condition, assuming similar mods. Superjets are sweet rides though thats for sure.

I think it's easier to mod an older ski too, I have left my 06 SXR mostly stock because it's a shame to tear into a new ski, my new to me 96 SJ however went under the knife the same day I brought it home.

My blue SJ was the exact same speed as yours and scottys SXR's when we rode at Craborchard. You guys were stock and I had a pipe and a head. But I also had a super low pitched prop and a bored nozzle. So with mods you can make any ski do what you want.

Not too sure about pre 08's but i know that My 08 can keep infront of my buddies 06 SXR. He does not ride it much so the motor is fairly fresh, but i killed him out of the hole and it took him about a good 45 seconds to pass me on my 08 and when he did it was the slowest pass ever. we raced prb about 800 to 1100 meters and for the first 90% of that I was winning. yes I could have ended the race early and win but I wanted to see how long it took him to catch up.

So I say i depends on the rider and their abilities. personaly I was in you possition last year at this time, and now that I have my 08 and was able to try out my buddies SXR to compair back to back I am very happy I went Yamaha!!! even my buddie wishes he has what I have! so if I were to do it again. . . . SUPERJET, but I would still be happy on a SXR, as long as it was running

Just my 2 cents
