The only place I trust anymore is NOAA.GOV.

They seem to at least try to be accurate.

Weather.com (which is yahoo and many others) is always way off at least around here.

what time. I'd rather drive a half hour over a an hour anyday.

I think that goes without saying.

I still make the 500 mile round trip. Beats staying home. I can't even ride. Your pinging pretty low on the Hardcore meter.

HAHAHAHAHA!

I didnt show after talking to Mark. I was on the road when I called.

It wasnt worth the drive for the little waves you guys were getting.

I grew up on the Atlantic. The stuff you call "surf" here in MI is nothing short of depressing most days.

Get it ANYTHING over 4' and I will be there. Bottom line, I'f I'm gonna go freeze my nuts off there had better be some waves.

If you don't like our surf, move back to the Atlantic. It is what it is, like it our leave it, but don't bitch about it.

michigan surf rocks... few places on earth have (relative to thousands of miles of ocean coast) the type of conditions the great lakes serve up.

any joe schmo can ride in the ocean in head highs and do ok... head or higher on the great lakes will make joe think twice before he ventures out. sort of like surf races... a little wave action adds a dynamic twist to just running bouys.

btw... if we ride holland where are we putting in at? i've put in @ the beach (freestyle geek driving down the sidewalk stir any memories?) and at the marina on the north side of the lake towards the channel.

the problem has always been getting fuel if out there... by the time you get out and in you're down 1/4 tank, and its easy to burn through the rest in a few sessions (marsh? can you feel your toe yet from towing me through the channel? lol) that and those pesky surfers/fisherman (superrob? remember the dude on the pier yelling at us?lol)

but... i'm up for any weekday anywhere at/around 4pm...

waves are looking healthy for the week.

If I can make it out I have to couch it since my Short bus is down with electrical issues. I can pack mule some fuel out with that, no problem. Hell I have an inflateble boat we can load up and I'll tow it out. :sneaky:

I agree GL surf is like no other, when you have it. It's unpredictable and can be down right dangerous. I've been out @ holland in 10 footers ( you know it's bad when the CG stops you @ the channel and warns you that they will NOT help you if you go out) and it was no joke, but completely do-able for people with blue water experience. I love surf. I grew up in Daytona surfing the east coast. While that area isn't particularly known for big waves, it's not unheard of. Especially during storm surges in the spring and fall.

I am down for a tuesday night ride. I am waiting to hear if i can get my new pole shipped here by then. I am always down to ride during the day on wednesdays. I usually go to Pigeon lake where there are never any hangups with the cops or really anyone it is so desolate. Plus then i have a friend meet at the park a mile down so i can fill up and keep riding.
