question about a sitdown

Now that i have the superjet, i want a sitdown too. For friends and if i want to take a passenger (i.e. hot girl). so ive been looking around and found a '90 waverunner III for $800. It looks like its in good condition considering its age and comes on a homeade trailer that i might be able to convert to a tandem. The owner doesnt know when it was last rebuilt. so i have 3 questions:
1 Do these have ample power? (topspeed?)
2 Can that trailer be converted to a tandem? and if so, what would i do with my single trailer?
3 Is it worth $800?

Thanks for any help, here's some pics.

I guess we need to ask is that your budget? If you can double it you'll have a lot of better options (waveraiders, etc), but for 800 I doubt you'll do much better.
That trailer looks to me like rust waiting to happen BTW.

I used to have one of those that was a 93 model. 30mph tops, and it will just about come to a stop when you hit a wave. The hull doesn't cut through chop very good. I sold mine for $750 without a trailer.

Spend a little extra money or wait for a 97-99 GP1200. They are pretty fast(59-60), but are still pretty light and agile for a sitdown so you can throw them around pretty well and I hear there pretty fun in the surf.

ok, thanks guys, that's what i was afraid of. I thought since it had the 650 engine it might be at least tolerable. looks like ill have to wait until i can afford more.

Yeah, i would wait and spend a little more if you can afford it..You wont have any fun on that thing...It might have 55hp and might hit 35 on a trailer going down the road.

Since you already have a ski to ride yourself I would hold out and save some extra cash and get something with a bigger engine, you won't be sorry for your patience.

My X2 has a 650, it's only a one person ski and I still would like it to have a 750 in there.

I would keep an eye out for a GP800 or similar, just save up and maybe try to buy at the end of the season. You could also get a blown up ski and rebuild it. Or, a Waveraider or Waveventure, or an XL700, would also do well. Like said earlier, anything with a 62t (i.e. twin carb) will be worth the wait. That ol 6m6 can't even throw a Superjet around very well, so those WRIII beasts dont have a chance :frown:
