i run any tc3 oil in mine
it far exceeds the requirements of your engine and to get the tc3 rating the oil has to be compaitable with any other tc3 rated oil
so you dont have to worry about mixing it ethier

There are many very fine oils on the market. It's really not fair to try to judge them all. But I'm a fan of Synthetics, personally. I prefer R-50 or Amsoil over the others, for various reasons.

As for the dino oils, Super M, Yamalube, Quicksilver & a host of others are top quality.................

To start, you need to understand what the oil does in your motor.
The oil doesn't burn!!!! It's intended purpose is to lubricate ALL motor internals. That happens upon fuel atomisation. The oil comes out of suspension with the fuel, & rolls along the internal surfaces of the motor, lubricating as it goes. finally it's expelled thru the exhaust.

What I look for is an oil that suspens with the fuel well, & stays that way. Lubricates well & has corrosion inhibitors. & also leaves little residue in the exhaust tract.

Here is a simple little test for your oil...........
Mix a gallon at your normal mix ratio. Get a clear 1/2" tube. Siphon the fuel mix from one container to another. What you are expecting to see is. once in the tube, the oil will come out of suspencion with the fuel & "roll" down the sides of the tube?

One thing to definately rember when you purchase oil............You get what you pay for!!!!

castor 927:sneaky: :sneaky:
and it smells good 2:biggrin:

That what I switched to this year and absoloutly love the stuff. Smells like your ski is buring race gas  I chose it b/c it is supposed to keep PV clean. Tore my motor down and it very very clean. No build up or anything. Pretty nice stuff.

I used to run Klotz, but for the last 8 years I have been running Maxima Castor 927. My engines last a long time! But i may be switching as a friend of mine here that races SXR's and burns 927 exclusivley is now getting more RPM's from that new full synthetic Maxima oil Formula K2. He thinks its because of the guminess of 927. I am thinking for freestyle usage where your not WFO all the time this may be a better alternative for me. I think this new oil might be better for "off idle throttle response" Any thoughts?

yea, very nice stuff. a little pricey but like JR said you get what you pay for:cool2:
also a very clean burning oil and i liked the honey like texture (just makes me feel good mixing that instead of some thin crap)
i have always ran that in everything 2stroke i owed...dirt bikes, four wheelers, jet skis and have yet to have a motor come apart (knocking on wood:fingersx:) or bearing go bad.
hell, the only thing that stopped my sn that had the original motor was my buddies tool box when it rammed into it and ripped the nose off:banghead: :banghead::cheer: :cheer:

I'm not second guessing, just seeking wisdom from many sources....grasshopper.

I DO love the smell of Castor based oils - from my motocross days back in the late 70s I guess.....Nothing like standing next to the starting line at the 125 nationals & smelling all the yummy premix/race gas fumes...:purr: :purr: :purr: :purr: :purr: :purr:

Yes, they were all 2-strokes then......

JR, Watcon, et al - how does Klotz Benol stack up against R50 for protection, price? I've heard it smells even better than 927..:sneaky:

prices are very close, they both have there advantages, as far as film strength benol cant be beat, but it leaves some carbon deposits due to its high film strength, r-50 also has a very high film strength, and leaves less carbon deposits, if your running power valves, run r-50, both are over and above what you are looking for, i run benol in a 750sx with a hammer kit, ive run r-50 in our sj's, both have unlimited rpm ranges

I have ran just about all of them........... Run Klotz Benol now, would prefer to run Motul but it not readily available, that was the cleanest running oil I have run, very little residue at the exhause outlet.

I just go the petrol station and buy what ever oil is there as long as its tc3 then in it goes
I have never had an issue with a crank failure from lack of lubrication

How does Benol compare to 927 as far as deposits? I ran 5 gallons thru my last top end w/very minimal buildup....

so, isnt that your answer skioveranalyzermommy?

and if thats not good enough for ya...

motosurfer looking over my shoulder says (and I quote):

"you have 5 gallons of 927....just run it stupid"

Super Techniplate is also a clean burner, which has 20% benol blended into it, klotz in general is a very good product, with field not just lab testing to back it up

So what IS the 'tcw3 rating' that is recommended for most skis???

Seems I heard/read that the tcw rating is more for anti-corrosion protection. Kinda makes sense with the sludge/gumminess it leaves behind.

I ran out of 927 just before my last top end melted down....was running Penzzoil...hmmm, same pattern as the last melt down....

FYI there is a difference between 927 and Benol - plus, I'm stuck here in Texas at my in-laws, bored, w/little else to do besides play Halo..
