best under pad?

It seems obvious that the 25mm hydro-turf under pad is the best but want input from people who've used it. does it wear out faster? does it seperate?

are multiple layers of somthing else better?

I've jammed my ankles the last few times out and the pain is pretty bad. It's time for some padding.

I have the 25 and it gets a thumbs up from me. I'm old, and even though I rode a lot harder this year my knees and lower back didn't get sore at all compared to last year when I had a stock tray mat.

Oh, and it has not compressed, worn, or lifted at all yet. Only 6 months on the pad, but during those 6 months I was on the ski at least 5 days a week, so it has seen some decent usage.

Every once in a while I see someone wanting to use garage foam pads for underpad.
Don't know how that works, though.

i wasnt crazy about it when i rode nicks ski.feels super comfy on the feet but it felt awkward standing an inch higher on the ski.also when i had padding under my turf i would tear the turf almost every w/e because the padding would allow the turf to squirm around

maybe im just weird tough, most people love it

good feedback, thanks.

not sure if I need to go from none to 1".

I too felt 25mm was just too much so I went with 8mm. Besides, once you put down 25mm and the 6mm actual turf...you can't get your foot in the footwells so you end up cutting out around foot....thus partially defeating its intended purpose (at leaft for my right foot).

I say 8mm pad is enough especially since I am also coming from zero under-pad.

that was the fear i had...i almost ended up ditching the 25mm at the last minute...

but i made the holds in my fx myself and i guess i accounted for it when I cut them and it all seemed to work out....

granted, it hasnt been in the water yet...

His tray is so freaking hard... no wonder mine feels weird...

The 25mm padding is the only way to go. I got a sheet if ya need some Tim.

The 25mm is awsome. I used it EVERYWHERE!! I ground it down (tapered it) in to the footholds so it doesn't stop my feet from going it at all. I actually have to put my feet down and in now.

I also used it on the side where your outer ankles hit the gunwhales. This is where my legs got the most beat up and this has completely eliminated that.

I will never go back to 8mm.
