I don't like the look of the UMI at all. It looks halfassed. The AC's are better, but the x-metal is the cleanest looking aftermarket pole. I still think the stock one looks the best IMO.

I just reinforced 2 stockers, I should post some pics. They are super clean.
Yes please do. I suppose you use stainless steel backing plates inside the pole then rivet or bolt lower casting together. What glue/epoxy?

I realy like my x-metal, but it is about 3-4lbs heavier then the stocker.
Uhh..not what I wanted to hear. But just like anything else, its a trade-off.

After feeling the weight of the stock RN pole, its hard for me dump $500 on an "add-on" that adds weight...especially knowing how easy it is to beef up a stocker and how cheap spares are.

^^^^^I feel ya man, but I dont see myself ever breaking it! I would have wrapped my stocker with some glass, but the bracket snapped in two. Unless you just realy like the look of the X-metal "wich i do" I would just strengthen up the stocker and save lots of $$$$! Spend the dollars on other stuff. I wish I had a better scale and was more acurate when I weighed it.

I will get the weights again, my ski is stripped anyways.

Yeah I rode the x-metal pole and I was not impressed either. It's definitely very very strong, but also very heavy. I don't like the feel of a stiff pole so I would be curious to see how an x-metal would work with a spring. That might be the best of both worlds.

I edited my post, I had to buy a pole, and was not aware of the weight difference....I will put the x-metal stuff on a accurate scale tonight.

I gotcha. Personally I would like the X-metal for the strength and looks and saving a few pounds isn't that important to me. I just hate riding handlepoles that are very tight. I would be very curious to hear how/or try an x-metal with a spring. The weight issue is the only thing that keeps me from going with an x-metal.

For now I think I'll just cutback my stocker and reinforce it. Someone needs to start a handlepole reinforcing thread in the Tech Section. Please:biggrin:

Make sure you find me at Daytona, I would be more then happy to let try my ski.

Yeah I've ridden a ski with the xmetal pole and no spring so if you end up putting a spring on yours then I would definitely like to take you up on that offer. Either way I might take you up on that offer. Appreciate it.

you have 2 bolts that you can adjust the tension on the pole, it can be stiff, floating or loose........., Mine stays in the floating mod, it does not stay where I leave it but it does not go flying up or down if I let go of it either.

^^^^Thats about how I like mine, but when It gets too loose that SOB gets heavy! It seems to take a while for the bushings to get worn in. I have to tighten mine at least once a weekend it seems. When 1st got it, I had to tighten it like every 30 minutes.

Cracka, you are using red loctite and letting it cure for 24hrs right? I can usually go a month or two before having to retighten but I crank the poop outta it too. It never really gets heavy - just starts to get the "floaty" feel yall are talking about.

if you could feel the weight of the pole is wasn't tight enough.
