what do I need, if i was to go buy my own stuff. i see alot of guys have 2 nuts on their bolts. (weird lol) anyway, is one nut a regular stainless nut, tightened enough to keep the pole stiff, with some movement? and the second nut looks like a lock nut, that keeps the whole thing together right? and a washer on the inside against the pole and outside?

Yup you got the concept. I'd drop the $ for Pat's bolts. They are just so nice. One end isnt just a bolt its like a little fitting and makes for a great clamp

I cant remember if I put washers on mine or not, lol. I might wanna check out that sometime:biggrin:

problem is that is not a standard size,so, you will have a hard time finding them.............. just order his setup. Have you ever priced a stock bolt, about $60.00

a word of caution, rivet..... make sure you reinforce that bracket mounting area with a few layers of biaxial on the flat and around the curves on the inside if youre going to run a stiff pole setup. square top decks flex a LOT right there and youll eventually crack it.

i still have the stainless hardware that i used for that setup somewhere, if youre interested. theyve been used once, then removed, because of all the flexing in the top deck. i put the through-bolt back with the springs and have been running it that way since. this was about 2 years ago. never felt like reinforcing it. my roundie... now, thats a different story!

a side note.... i was at the water today and was examining my eng compt and found that my ski was cracked all the way from the back/right bracket bolt, under the hood seal and across through to the lip (front of hood area). this happened in daytona. thats when i noticed a bunch of paint chipping and today was the day i realized why...... shoulda reinforced:banghead:

doesnt matter, the round will be done soon enough!:headbang:

how much?

Maybe ill just stick with my stock bolt and springs for now, but id like the bolts anyway for a good price.

Why does the dual bolt setup cause so much more stress?

Because when your running your bolts that tight your pole is tight. When you throw your ski, or fall or whatever, instead of this "feather weight" pole being flapped around like it would with a spring, it takes ALOT of force to move a tightened pole. It almost makes the pole heavy and when it goes flying upwards or back or two the side its with alot of force.

Also one reason I love XMW parts. Pat's bracket comes with a backing plate under it thats pretty thick. Pat always makes good stuff

bk, are you just talking the x metal bolts or stock as well? i'm almost positive stock squarenose is 14mm thread. I am planning on using 14mm bolts on my roundpole and it seems to fit good. price was definitely right for my bolts... free:woot: , but they would be expensive to go out and buy

ice, why double posting on here and pwc?

I didnt get an answer on pwct and when i posted it i was at school. for some reason xh2o didnt load at school yesterday.

i still use pwct.... theres nothing wrong with it (sort of) and i still get fast responses. It is getting to be a big cluster funk tho, all those new topic sections. WTF

i looked at the bracket w/ the hardware on it, this morning, and noticed that it's missing a nut. it should have 4 nuts - two tensioners and 2 lockers. its missing a tensioner. before i sell the setup, i want to make it complete... unless the buyer doesnt care.
