X2 hull sponsons

What do you think about me developing a set of X2 specific sponsons that are a bit more aggressive than currently availiable designs? I'm thinking about working on that this winter now that I have a spare hull to cut patterns off of and experiment with.

Probably wider, perhaps longer, and follow the hull outline better, by no means a copy. One problem with the X2 is the narrow front, and wide rear, looking to make a sick wave shreader. If you look closely at this picture, you can see how the front handles the water.

is that the infamous luke suva? i see what ya mean. have you tried regular ones yet?
Yes, and I am not his .....o nevermind. I personally have not tried the regular ones, but know they were not really made for this hull, thus room for improvement. My hull reshape from last winter made so much of an improvement in overall ride, I think I may be on the right track. I have had not one complaint about handling, and may take the next step. Pete took the X2 to the next level, I'm just trying to improve on his ideas. Did I mention parts that have the hull curve built into it so there is no bending?

Well if you make your own, maybe its not a bad idea to make some type of deal built into the front sponson that would make it a simple bolt/glue/rivit up job. Like a built in extender tube or something??? I dunno, just plant the seed in your head and let it grow....

Crab if you make it....they will buy! Put me down for a set! I love my tubbies but a more radical design would be awesome! Especially something DESIGNED FOR x2s!

EDIT: And of you do a mold of your bottom mod I will buy that too....lol

If I really get serious about this whole thing, I will pull a mold of the front reshape. I really need to pull the motor out and flip it over to do this easily however.
CPRman and I are talking about pulling footholds and a few other things as well, it really depends on my time this winter, I have the heated shop. If I get a working sponson prototype I am happy with, I will send a pair to somone for the east coast sea trials.

Crab have you taken your 2 X2s out to the flatwater for some side by side handling tests? I'd love to see how a stock X2 hull handles compared to your moded boat.
