kevin at pwi wrote an editorial explaining the death to standups basically being the manufacturers fault...no promotion, no new technology as well as enviro regs, etc...i dont think a resurgence is remotely likely in America...the rest of the world will be keepin it goin now. they have the riding areas and more recently, there are more people gettin some disposable income. On top of that it seams like much more of the regular people enjoy watching it. too much regulation here to allow surfriding to become the sport it could have the potential to be. but our amigos down south and other places may be the future of this sport..i dont think flatwater has a chance on the xgames, just my IMO.

Make a list of questions you would ask someone who is involved with x-games. 1. what would it take to get freeride into x-games?
2.Would surf be a possible location?
3.Do you think back flips and rolls are extreme enough for x-games? If not,what?
4.How about flat water?
It does not have to be these questions.Come up with questions you would like answered.

Nick,I totally agree with what your saying for us older guys,why do something new and risky if your not getting paid for the risk,I wana be doing this for a hobby for the rest of my life.But if your young and just dont care like the younger gen,taking it to x games is just the point,Gold pays 50k and brings a big title and a ton of sponsorship that far exceed that $ and when your talking that kinda $ you will see riders pulling out all the stops.especially the young and the rich ones with not as much to lose,lol.Some special health insurance and aflac type insurance would be a good idea either way.

the risk applies to everyone, no matter of age...there has to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow in order for it to be worth it to most people... Pastrana got paid and made a huge name for himself... Pierre pulls a double and chirp... chirp.... to me it's much more amazing technically since he did it like 3 times and off a wave that was moving and changing. The problem is you would have to explain that to most non surf oriented people, cause they would not understand the technical side.

Tell me the main reason for a kid at 18 to get into freestyle/freeride as a sport to make a living at, not just a recreation??? WHat would be his reason to pursue it? There is no model for that in this sport right now..

remember I am only speaking of the xgames/business side of it... I understand if a kid is stoked and wants to flip and so on... but what pushes him to try and make it a job in a sport that has no payouts (to speak of) like you would have to do to compete at the level these xgamers are now.. You can't ride 2 tanks on the weekend and think you are the worlds best, these kids are living that :):):):) 24/7 w/ trainers and entourages of people.. ha ha..

we are doing what we can... I think the Surf Slam, IFWA, IJSBA people like that are great events/body's and represent what and where we should be at this point with this sport.

Being underground is and always will be cool....

Thanks,We can see where it goes.My brother will be staying at my house on friday.My brother isthe vp for video production for godfrey entertainment.He is in town for the Supercross and the Nitro Circus show that they are practicing for that they are taking on the road.My brother wrote some of the script for 199 lives and interviewed the doctor that put him back together after he dislocated his pelvis and had internal bleeding.Maybe Tp can be coaxed into answering the questions.Why did he turn away from motocross/supercross and into freestyle?

Anybody that knows me will tell you that nobody gets away with throwing trash on my beach if I see it happen, so until you know what you're talking about, ya might STFU. That wouldn't be like you at all though.

I couldn't care less about the xgames if I tried. You apparently care about it but all you're willing to do is go online and whine about how nobody will make it happen for you.

Oh, I know! Maybe instead of doing something productive you could just bash women some more! That'll getcha where ya wanna go! :cheer2:
