Two big ski boats with someone that know how to use them, double up wakes, 8 riders spaced 30 yards apart , rapid fire bang bang bang runs, short and sweet a quick score a bikini contest and a little BS between each run four runs total. It could be enough to sell.

You can get WAAAAY more than 10' of air off a double up wake. I love that idea Berky - the great thing is that you don't need any more equipment than for a wakeboard event, the wave is predictable, you can do it anywhere you have water, and it has the big drama and rapid fire that suits the X-Games format. Not to mention the opportunity for great camera angles.

Finally this thread is going somewhere interesting.

thats what I said a few posts back, but it would help to be a succession of wake boats making hit after hit in a row to have some flow and length to compete with the rest of event in the X. there is also a vid out there that has a few sjs and b1s doing a demo show at some wavepool in south africa going huge.I cant find it right now?

that is the place the vid was shot, one of the guys from south africa had it posted somewhere for awhile, they were doing really sick tricks right next to the edge of the wall where the wave gets the biggest

wow...this thread is awesome!

Some food for thought to all involved...

At this point in time, the X-Games is Travis Pastrana, like it or not. The people that run things over there pay alot of attention to him and his opinion as he represents a huge bank for them in terms of name recognition and a built in fan base.

The X-Games people are also very difficult to talk to, deal with, or get the attention of...think of the most jaded person you have ever met and multiply that by 1,000...at least in my experience.

To everyone that wants to put together videos and presentations and send them to the organizers...you guys have the best intentions and some really positive thoughts and ideas but more than likely anything that gets sent will get thrown aside or flat out ignored. There is alot that needs to happen before we could get them to entertain the idea of something ski related...

And like him or not, Wyd has some things right on... Mass exposure for a sport is a Pandora's Box to say the least, and as others have mentioned it can either hurt or help in the long run. If a sport is not strong enough on its own, the X Games propping it up will not help it, it will actually lead to a more rapid demise. Think about it like this...

Freeride gets into the games...great! We see increased sales for the manufacturers for a few years as people see the sport and think "man thats cool, i need to do that"..., the industry grows and everyone is stoked except...this same "hey cool" crowd is also much too fast and loose to spend the time all of you guys and girls have learning good water conduct and the in's and out's of the sport...thus creating more headlines we all dread to see, ie "13 yr old killed on pwc"...and thus ultimately leading to even more legislation and restrictions than we have against us now. Everyone dig?

IMO any sport that wants to dance with the devil that is the X Games needs to be able to support and regulate itself extremely well or it will get bloated and ultimately die an ugly death...

Also, some would be surprised how many people pay attention to what is said, done, and acted on on sites like the X... the online community represents only a fraction of the overall, but for better or worse the medium makes it the most vocal...

someone said it best earlier...ride and have fun, because at the end of the day, after the X Games, sponsors, "going pro", and all that other stuff thats really all thats left and all that counts...

It was Tony Hawk, then Travis, then now Shawn White is their golden boy...

Not sure if this is true, but I heard the reason that the Xgames people will not even talk to the PWC industry is because they stood up the xgames people when they had an invite and that's a big no-no... Now they won't even look our way... like I said I am not sure if that is 100% true, but it may be the reason or part of the reason behind it..

Chris well said, I'm sure it's very difficult to put something like this together. I know that I need wings to fly over the BS I have to deal with at many of the events we put on.

There are also so many "catch 22's" in stuff like this that could lead to what Nick is saying about backing out -- I'm not sure of any of this or have I heard anything. Sometimes they event will drop you for a bunch of reasons, like not enough time, conflicts and of course the old mighty buck (lack of it).

their is a double edged sword of growing a sport fast like the x games would do.Aftermarket manufacturer prices would deff shoot up with crazy demand. Some extra kooks in the water till they learn there way.At least if the xgames event was done at the wake board facility it wouldnt open the flood doors to new guys in the ocean, where we have the most to lose.
Wakeboarding is still in the X but has alot bigger a following, imo its way more boing to watch than constant doubleup action with riders that are very good.

im not sure there would be many kooks trying, its way too difficult for most people and i know people are scared of the surf and ocean. its sure to expand but to the point of ruining it for everyone im doubtful.

wave pools and exclusive breaks not needed, just get some overhead surf and video cameras on couches out there taking video. it would be nuts and respect would be due.

Or everyone could play it safe and get this game instead.

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
i like your inputs fellas!

is'nt it worth a try to send them something instead of wondering if it can be done?

i know between Dj, fullgaz, and Chris could put some sick :):):):) together. what if they said yes, i dont see why it would HURT the sport at all? worring about more people throwing trash in the water?

i know when i see trash on the way in from the inlet i grab it and throw it away, and i make sure everyone at the boat ramp sees me do it. All the junkies do it, give respect get respect

I just think some of you guys are giving up to easy.

its not about the older generation imo. im worried about all the new guys that are gonna keep pushin the sport. Just because all you old guys keep saying progression isnt gonna happen because yall have backied and thats as far as You want to go, dont mean thats where its gonna stop. X games would just push the new rider to the next level, knowing that you Have to go BIGGER and do better things.

Im so horrible at typing and saying what i feel threw the internet.

And NO HARM to you older guys, yall have made the sport what it is. i just feel it can be bigger with more diverse tricks. cant wait for some flip bars on my ski.

I know Mark Gomez, stan, erock, mxsuprfly, flipside, zimmy and even myself dont tend to wanna stop at just the backie. All riders that are not even 20-25. there are prob numbers out there that feel the same, i would hope. Ross and Pierre are the mack daddys that open'd the door. That leaves alot of time for your progression.

nuff said my fingers hurt and my mind is fried from tryin to type what i think.......
