I do compete and have up and downs about it

I do compete in regional events and it has its ups and downs.the ups are its a blast to do and a thrill to see the spectators reactions and the people you get to meet.all the riders that your competing against are friendly and their is usually never any problems that i have ran into yet.the downs are It cost alot to ride at an event for 2 mins.I think the last event i was in the cost alone to be their set aside the gas to get their it cost me about 230 dollars for entry fee and the membership and the pit pass and the gas to run the ski.And to only get 2 mins of time cause we didnt get any practice.I understand the insurence for the event and the awa membership have to be covered and all but racers get 2 motos and last longer than what the freestyle events are.

$170 paid for a weekend APBA pass, 1 moto racing beginner open, and 2 days worth of freestyle 3 2 min runs....

Racing was cool.......i'd still take the two minutes of go as hard as i can then racing

Before I started competeing.....it was lack of skills

I think alot of people base their opinions upon the #1 and #2 riders and are afriad. They need to get out there and just do it. Not everyone is equal on the playing field.

PLUS! - getting out there will make you learn faster then you ever thought

jesse is 100% right

I had been riding for a few years before I first started competing. My first freestyle routine was a complete disaster. I was competing on the same ski i was racing on, the idle was completely off and the experience was completely new to me. I came in dead last. However, it was the freestyle support (BK, Stoyer, Nemo, RR, Jawbreaker, Lutker) that everyone showed encouraged me to keep at it which kept me comming back, wether I was doing well or getting my tail handed to me. Id say that attending just 3 rounds during a single season progressed me more than riding at my local spot for 2 years!! The only way to get experience is to achieve it and always setting your goals a little higher each time. Sure there will be plenty of embarassing moments but everyone goes through that and were all there for the same reason, so whats the big deal? Were all family, push to go bigger, and get better with everything we do!

ha ha.... I have spoke to his mom too... very nice woman. It did kinda freak me out at first... I'm so worried about being around people that are under age...

He has definately matured beyond his years though.... look at the post above... how many kids at 18-19 think like that???

Jessie and Ratti both are great young guys in the sport...

reminds me of a few years ago when a group of 30 something year old guys show up to tinks's house and meet his parents for the first time to pick up their 14year old son who we met on the internet to 'take him camping for the weekend in sebastian'

you can read the rest of the story at: www.NAMBLA.com

I dont compete in FREERIDE during the surf events in Australia because.

1. I was racing same day.
2. I WAS racing my racing my superjet.

Now that I have my Hydrospace i may consider competing freeride at surf events.

FREE RIDE 4 LIFE. Who wants to drive 12 hrs, pay $100 to "compete" pay another $100 to join some stupid "membership" just so you can spend money on entry fees, sit on the beach waiting, run your moto, sit on the beach more, run 2nd moto, load up and drive 12 hrs home. I personally would much tour the country and hit all the freerids(made it to all of them this year) meet new friends, ride when i want, drink when i want, and enjoy watching everyskill level on every level of boat have fun ALL day. That is where the sport is going. Hopefully there will be a freeride every weekend next year

I agree that freerides are the future. Currently they are blowing away the major comps around the country. But the subject at hand is Compition!
Without it, there wouldn't be a true venue for the progression of the sport. The IJSBA/APBA, definately need to revamp the current format. I feel the same about waiting all day for a 2 minute routine. Certain promotors are trying to have a 1 minute qualifier early in the day to help this. But as with all events, time alloted to run the event in general, simply doesn't allow the time needed.
Is there a solution? Not in the short term. But if the IJSBA/APBA doesn't get off their butts pretty quick & do something, The day of organised comps might be over!!

One solution is to get rid of or combine all low participant classes. shorten the dayly program. Run a more efficent event, Have a better set of & more consistent set of rules for all riders to go by............. This is just a starting point!!!!!

For those of you who might be saying, "are you doing your part?"
Yes I am, I pledged to work closely this season with region 7 promoter, Mike Young on this very subject. Are you doing your part?????

I wasn't being a smartasss - I just like to try and meet everyone that shows up at the Galveston Ride since it's my home turf.

I always miss people, or forget that I met someone and they say "I met you in Galveston, don't you remember?"

my remembery doesn't work all the time

I'm going to try to make more of the rides next year.

I am competing in Region 5 next year. I will be lucky to make 3 races. But from the way it went this year, I will compete against myself. I am hoping that maybe Bronco-king and Premix ( who both ride WAY better than I do) will decde to show up and make me place 3rd. If not, First all the way!!!

Main thing, I don't want to be a specator at the Nationals.
