I want to do porting for more bottom end on my SXR for freestyle/surfriding. any advice welcome.
The best way to do a sxr cylinder for freestyle...machine the base of the cylinder, then port, and lastly make a set of custom domes to fit.
A little more work, not as easy as a superjet.
Or leave the porting stock then get an Advent CDI, pump in a ton of compression, good set of carbs, special attention to setup of Factory wet pipe and prop/nozzle tuning.
But who can do machine work ?
Drop as much weight as you can. It added as much brap (if not more) than putting my pipe on. My ski rips as hard as alot of superjets that have wayyyy more mods.
also...aluminum flywheel!!!!!
i can give you some info from her ski
03 sxr..
Steve at Kommander rebuilt it
simply rebuild
it surprised me at the bottom end response the ski has
ALOT of PULL. 227 and Daralekt have ridden the ski and agree it's got alot of power for the amount of work done to it.

Yup- Don let me ride his wifes ski and it has a lot more pull than mine (Other than an aftermarket handle pole, my SXR is completely stock though) If I were you I'd PM Don for advice or call Steve at Kommander for build recommendations
but if you want a freestyle ski start with the proper ski. the bigger pump makes a big difference too so you will want to upgrade tha kawi pump to equal out the score.
For some reason I way more comfortable on Kawi. I am 6'2" and 210 lb and I had Superjet and didn't like it a bit.
And I got Magnum pump on my ski
