I want to ride Daytona this weekend, but I'm an unclear on exactly what it is that I need to just get on the water.

I have searched around and it appears that I need a helmet, reg numbers and a fire extinguisher to get a pass from the beach patrol.
Is all of that necessary to ride? And is there any other information I should know before I make the trip?

look into sebastian. It's a little south and doesn't require a permit i think

it doesn't, but you cant beach launch or anything like that

Make sure it is open if the weather is bad, if its a small craft advisory it wont be open
Check the tides, if its high tide when you get there, they wont let you drive on the beach
dont try and launch from your trailer if you have one with it still attached to your truck, hand launch only
you need a whistle and a lanyard too on top of everything else you have on your list

You need current registration, whistle, fire extinguisher, vest, helmet and to buy either a month pass (30 day) for 25 bucks or yearly which is 100 bucks to FL residents, 125 to outta staters. Get there before high tide or else they wont let you on the beach untill the tide starts to receed in some of the skizones.

Thanks guys. I don't have a place for an extinguisher, so could I get away with having the fire extinguisher just laying under the hood unstrapped? Or if I have a couch rider with me that has an extinguisher?

They just want to know you brought an extinguisher after that they don't check where it is...
