kick azz job Nick!

Is that a conversion?

BTW, he's going to love moving the footholds forward like that, especially on a shorter hull

thanks guys... it was Rattis ski, yeah

any tips on doing the turf in one piece??? I could not get it to go around the top curve very well at all... that's why I did the caps. Charlie, how do you do the sides???

this is one of your conversions that i picked up from ratti...I figured if I did not move the footholds forward it would be the equivalent of riding a normal length hull with my feet 3 inches off the back...like doing a constant tail stand.

just like any custom turf job, you just have to take time with your template. initially, i like a very flexible template that 'mimics' what the turf would do. instead of straight cardboard, i now use the shipping foam that comes in rolls, to shape the template. then i transfer that to cardboard (because it doesnt move when youre cutting the turf), and then cut my turf. the diamonds dont necessarily have to 'line up' with the outer edge of the curved gunwales, either. as long as the outer edges of the turf are beveled, itll look tits.

give that ski I will have ready for you in 3 days turfed!:buttkick::smoker:

3 days to turf?

you must be following the, "contact cement, then blunt, then more contact cement" rule.... instead of the, "contact cement, BEER, more contact cement" rule.

of course, im not saying any particular method is better, or worse, than the other.

its all about humidity and relative conditions.... right? :ugh:

you got to start on the top of the gunwale and follow the line. Then, push the turf to the inside . It also helps alot to use a heat gun to soften the turf so it conforms around the turns and the inside of the footholds.
