CHEAPER and healthier just to lose rider weight, eat right, exercise and save for a lighter hull. For 2500$ there is a lightweight sj hull. Pm waterfreak.

I have a couple postal scales and started weighing all my components a couple years ago. You would be amazed at how much weight you can shave off all the bolt on items. That being said, there's 20 to 50lbs to loose by going to an aftermarket hull and only about 20lbs from everything else. Wet foam and overly heavy reinforcement are the two most obvious things to go after. There's lots of opportunity in the hood and handpole area and of course an automatic 5-7 pounds by just ditching the fire extinguisher and holder.

I won't get into rider weight loss suggestions.

Get an aftermarket carbon hood
Stock pole is about the lightest you can have on a RN
Ditch the fire extinguisher and tools
Replace stock exhaust with a b-pipe
Defoam and replace with extruded polystyrene
If reinforced, make sure it was done properly and doesn't consist of 10 layers of heavy glass that isn't adhering to anything
Get a kart tank
Replace the battery with a LiFePO4 battery (bad idea and expensive)

I shed 15 lbs off my ski over the last 2 months and saved money in the process. It's pretty simple actually...

I asked my wife to do more grilling and baking, and less frying and sauces.
I stopped getting seconds.
I cut my milk consumption by 1/3 (8oz/day), and eliminated tea and soda.

I added it up before hand, I was consuming almost 5000 calories a week in milk, sweet tea and soda.

7% rider weight reduction, almost 3% overall reduction (rider and ski combined), while saving money and improving my health.

I always found it amusing when people who were 50 lbs over weight would brag about their new carbon part...
