Unfortunately for us, Mexico regularly dumps- Uh I mean has “Sewage Spills” just South of the border and at the Tijuana river sloughs. As mentioned in the article the ocean currents bring some sewage North into the Imperial Beach area. Fortunately for us, it doesn’t get further North than that before it dissipates so there’s still no real threat to any of our riding areas. Point Loma (The riding area closest to the spill) is at least 10 miles to the North of IB and Oceanside is about 40 miles to the North. 30 million gallons sounds like a huge number but when compared to the shear volume of the Pacific Ocean it dissipates before it gets any where near where we ride. Either way, Like Ross said, we'll be staying clear of Point Loma at least for the weekend! Thanks for the heads up!
