Certainly - but I wouldn't call that break-in, I'd call it 'checking to make sure it runs before driving my azz to the water'. :lmao:
Agreed lol
I would give it 3 min hooked up to a hose, let the motor warm up a little, but just at idle wouldnt rev it, well not more then 1/8 throttle

is your check valve on top of the tank, try running asingle line from the reserve to the inlet of carb if you are still using the factory fuel petcock. post pictures of your fuel line you could have it wrong

That's how I got my lines. Straight to resv. I actually just posted a thread early of my fuel lines. I had the wrong spark plugs. Not sure if that would matter.

so heres the deal . I put a brand new battery and new spark plugs. made sure all lines where tight and figured I would try to see if it would crank over in my garage. I primed it .It took two cranks and it started. ANd this is were the problem starts. It was idling high so I wanted to shut it down so I can put the water hose on. Hit stop nothing, pulled laynard nothing, hurry up and unscrewed battery still nothing, and then I pulled spark plug boot!! ANd finally stopped. It scared the crap out of me. I never had a ski run away from me. Bad feeling. So now Im a little worried to try it again . WHat do you guys think could be casuing that??? Im thinking from me priming it so much this weekend and it not starting well , it had all that fuel inside the motor. IDK. Need help

I have had that problem more then once, you have an air leak or your jets are way too lean, Since you got your motor from jetmaniac i would assume its pretty tight, check your carbs make sure they are tight, you should do a leak test or ask jetmaniac if he did one, if your running older carbs they could be leaking thru the butterfly

If it happens again, hold the carbs wide open and keep pressing the stop button, thats the fastest way to stop it

running away lean means too much air for the fuel...or...too little fuel for the air. So, before checking for an air leak, I'd check to make sure it's getting enough fuel. If I read the previous posts correctly, it sounds like there's a chance that the fuel lines aren't plumbed correctly...which can cause lean run-away just as easily as an air leak will.

I'd check the easy stuff first...

In any case, if it runs away lean again, you kill it by holding the throttle FULL OPEN while hitting the stop button until it stops.

That was my plan. Go for the easy stuff first. The motor is a fresh Jetmaniac motor, so its probably something small that I did. LAst weekend when I tried to start the ski, I couldnt keep the fuel filter full, so it may have had a bunch of air inside. Besides checking all fuel lines , is there another way to get the air out?

yes to what he said i had a run sometimes when i put a motor and new lines toghether try it again , and if it runs on, full throttle or even prime it and full throttle she will shut right off, post a picture of your fuel lines and all your fuel connections

Last night i took my carbs off and made sure all my bolts where tight on my intake. Some i could turn a little more. THen put back carbs, and tighten them really good. Made sure all fuel lines had tight zip ties on them. Everything looks pretty good . So Ill try my luck tonight when I get home.

There is your problem, you cant supply the 2nd carb with the first carb, either put a tee in the fuel line before the carb or run each carb right off the tank, if you supply each carb off the tank you need to extend the "on" fuel pickup to the bottom of the tank line the "res" is
also your pulse lines need to be exactly the same length

Wrong, that is exactly how dual 38's are hooked up.
Pulse lines do not need to be exactly the same length, either. Besides, there is only one pulse line in that dual setup he posted.
