The sj hood has started. Thanks to Jeremy Parr for motivating me to start some yamaha parts. Now that I have started, I am really excited to do the whole ski. With all the interest from SJ guys, it makes perfect sense. The kawi stuff is well ahead and builds are going out the door so its time. By the middle of next week I will post some pics of the outer skin in primer. Also want to thank Garrett and Bronson.

do you have an idea on price and weight?
Hood- 6.8 to 7 lbs. About the same price as kawi hood 995.00 or less sj hood is a little smaller , less material. The kawi hoods weigh 7.6 to 7.9 lbs before I glue in the hood seal. So i think with the sj hood being smaller the weights posted should be real close. Same construction and materials as the kawi hood.

No, it was just like he said. Took the words right out of my mouth. He's seen a few things. Just got home from working on it. The SJ is a new project and I'm ready to go on it. I think we all have some good ideas and look on this new hood. Plus Parr wants to rub on it. Not as much as I have to.

1. keep it low
2. make the liner so it will accept a dry, as well as B pipe
3. include a built in "hood removal device"
4. wide hood channel for no pinching w/hood trix
5. keep in mind with a super short pole/steering the throttle will sometimes hit the hood when cranked to the left

cant wait to see it!

I had a question..where does everyone keep their fire extinguisher when they move to an aftermarket hood? I would rather ditch mine but the water Nazis would probably tazer me if I didn't have one. is there some sort of bracket to relocate it.
