To Sell or Not to Sell

Well I own two very nice, well maintained, very clean barely used Kawasaki X2's. I have been hording parts for years to do a super X2 build. The power plant for this build I plan to use a Kawasaki 800 SXR. Yesterday I ran across an SXR with a FPP, Mac Masher foot holds, an intake grate, a pair od ODI grips, a set of UMI pars, and a UMI finger throttle. Ths cost for the 05 barely ridden was $4500.

So if I buy it, I will be a little strapped for cash and I have other debt which is more important to me to pay off. I do plan on selling my 4-wheeler if I can get someone to give me a fair price for it. This leaves me with the notion of selling one of my X2's. Kelly Blue Book and NADA Guides both list them under $1000. I would however if I sold one would want atleats $1000 because they just don't make these anymore and nice ones are hard ot come by. Mine are not perfect, but certainly better than the typical X2's I see out there. They are about 99.5% all stock.

Eventually I would like to rebuild a 96 1100 ZXi engine I have and put into the SXR. I don't need another ski at the moment but I am torn to sell one of my skis. I keep telling myself to pay off the debt and then just save up and buy another SXR down the road. But the lure of an 800 is just eating away at me. I don't even plan on putting the 800 in my X2 this year. Instead I would just ride the 800 as is and ride my other X2 as is.

So someone talk me out of both buying an SXR right now and selling an X2...

that's what sucks about what ever you own . it is only worth what some one will pay for it. i think a good running x2 is worth 1000 or more and i get 1000 for some i sell, and others i have taken 600 for in better condition then the ones i have sold for 1000.

as far as buying the sxr or not i would say pass. cuz my rule is i only buy what i can afford. i have no debt (other then my house). if i want some thing i wait and save. or sell what i got frist, then buy. it works well like that and i save alot in the long run.

nice skis by the way.

if you got 2 i would sacrifice one for the cause. a 800sx2r would be a lot nicer then a stock machine plus you still have one.

I say sell one x2 buy the 800. Then put the 800 in the other x2 and sell everything else thats on the sxr. Youll have a 800cc x2 for not that much because youll make some back by selling the hull, pump, pole, hood, etc. The side pads alone on the sxr are worth a fortune!

It is a 94 Mile. The 93 came from Michigan! I bought it on eBay a few years back. I bought the 94 X2 on eBay last year. I got good/decent deals on them both. Just keep your eyes open and don't be scared to bid...

Well I think I talked myself out of it. There will be other SXR's. They don't make X2's anymore... I have the money for the SXR... but I also have some debt I would rather pay off...

I think it I just save up some more, sell my 4-wheeler, I can find a better deal. Granted the SXR had a few bolt on's but I know someone who had an SXR that had all that plus a UMI pole and sold it for 3800. I still think better deals are out there. The thing about the SXR is that I wouldn't pull the engine out to put it in my X2 until next winter. Besides I have a round nose SJ I can borrow at any time.

Here is the second half of what I want to do with an SXR....

one of the best ideas i ever read on here. + i would be a rich man if this did happen. it should go like this

86 x2 1000,
87 1100,
88 1200,
89 1300
and so one.
jk.

Well if I was trying to get top dollar from my X2's I wouldn't post this but I am not selling so I will. Plus I have already posted this infor when I first bought eash of these anyways...

In Feb 2006 I paid $810 on eBay for my 93 X2. I gave the guy's dad $100 to deliver it to about 1.5 hrs away from me. Otherwise it was going to be a long 7+ hr drive from WV to MI one way! After getting it legal in my name I may have had 1k total in it.

Last summer around the end of beginning of July I won the 94 X2 on eBay for $826. I had to drive 4 hrs one way and 4 hrs back to get it. So figure in $50-65 for gas. After getting it legal, I would say I have around $925 max invested in it.

The NADA and Kelly just don't give skis that are clean justice. In November 2006 I paid $700 for an 89 X2 with a FPP, PJS head, Kehin 42 carb, Skat prop, PJS grate, ect... I made my money back, plus free parts when all said and done with that X2.

Good deals are out there but you have to always be ontop of them. I never search Craig's List. I always hear of good deals on it but never see any myself. If anyone is in the market for an X2, just drop me a PM. I will keep my eyes open. I have been around them for so long, I know what to look for. To me, sometimes unmolested all stock is better than a ton of parts and ghetto mechanical condition...

I think personally that you should sell one of those X2's as well as that cache of parts you have been hoarding for years now, that should garner you enough money to buy a really nice engine and pipe setup for your other X2.

Try crazedlist.org. This allows you to do multiple city Craigslist searches on one subject (Kawasaki x2). For some reason you need Firefox to use it.

I wondered why that never worked right for me.

Wedo I am only half way in my parts collection. I have some rare old school stuff that isn't readily available so I hate to sell it. :kabong:

Nah I just have been waiting to start buying the big stuff. Total loss, Novi's, and a Skat Mag ain't cheap, that's for sure!

The beauty of having two skis is thatwhen one takes a $hit you have a spare to ride. :nana:
