To much rotation??? That should be an easy problem to fix. Are you using a trim nozel? I’ve just started doing Back Flips also except I’m not getting enough rotation. I’m not using a trim nozel, I don’t think you need them in the surf. Check out this vid clip of me and tell me what you think I can do to get a faster rotation. The first 5 sec I pull one OK, but the second attempt I pancake it Big Time. I put in a slo mo of the pancake attempt to see what I did wrong. After watching it a few times it looks to me like my problem is I hesitated throwing my weight and head back until after I left the face of the wave.

I had the same problem.
I try longer sweeping backflips now, by using foot straps rather than footholds. It shifts your weight foward and helps with slowing down rotation.. I still use the footholds for smaller waves.

Biggest help I know is whatever foot stance, holds or straps.
Timing the wave is key... the later you hit the wave the faster rotation you will have...
If you hit wave same speed as you are now but hit the wave earlier where the wave is not vertical. you will do a longer slower rotation flip and nose in..
Good luck, let us know how you make out !

Wax thats the wrong vid. I just went by Matts office and he couldn't get it to load up either so I don't feel so dumb. I thought maybe I had landed on my head one too many times
